Our next Rally is open for sign-up.

By popular request (well Rick has been nagging me to death), we bring back the classic RWD excitement machine, the Escort Mk2.
It will certainly appeal to our RWD jockeys, gravel lovers, and those who love the older classic cars. We drove this car back in February, and most drivers had a ball with it. It is certainly not easy to drive, but hell, it is great fun. This car has been a true Rally Classic, with most of the top WRC drivers cutting their teeth in these, and they are still very popular today in most forms of rallying throughout the world.

The Escort is a true RWD Rally car, so it’s handling and driving characteristics are very different, but it is a ton of fun to drive. You can throw it around with confidence, but be careful with the throttle, the rear end can get very loose and squirrily, and the rear wheels spin easily. Also, the turns need to be controlled by the throttle, the handbrake won’t work in these cars unfortunately.

I’d recommend that all drivers give it at least a brief test run to get acquainted with it before the Rally.

We have chosen all gravel Stages for this one, so you can have fun throwing the tail around. This time, the Stages are limited so you can spend your time learning about the car's handling and getting used to it. We run through the main England Stages twice, once in "unusual" good weather, then we repeat the Stages with more "normal" damp weather. I considered making these full rain, but that may have been too evil. :pumpkin:

DRIVER BRIEFING NOTES:

1. The car handling of this old girl is quite different to the WRC cars. It’s not as quick, RWD, and can get quite slidey and loose. You can be aggressive with it though. In fact, she rewards aggressive driving. Just be careful and smooth with the right foot.

2. RBR Pacenotes are designed for default cars, Normal conditions and Good weather. Please remember to adjust your speeds to suit these cars.

3. Tyre selections are the drivers responsibility. If you use the automatic tyre selection option in RSRBR2011, please beware that sometimes it may give you the wrong tyre for the conditions. Always double check your tyres, it is critical.

If requests are made for any additional timezones, or changes to Start times to better suit your local needs, we will try to include them ( but within the Monday/Tuesday periods).

There are a number of nice car skins available for this car to add variety, all using the Skin manager to make switching easy. Check out the skins available here:

Good luck all, I hope you have lots of fun with this car again, and hope we see a good roll up. :rally:

Here is the great Escort Mk2 video again for those who may not have seen it last time. It really sets the mood for this rally.

This is the first one, with the Mk I. One of the more hilarious ones, if I remember correctly :D
Shame the car model was quite bad; windows messed up, lights messed up, wheels messed up :frown:

That still has to be the funniest RD Rally Club video ever, it still brings tears to my eyes. Geez, we were good drivers back then.
