Rally - Back to the B Future - Mon 27th & Tues 28th June 2011

Finally a rally with no tech problems :) Had a great battle with Pete, I don't think we were ever more than 15s apart and constantly switching position throughout, awesome fun.

As always thanks to Warren and Senad for organizing.

managed to get into the game ok, put on teamspeak with no mic, and mic muted(just incase), launched s3, was about to go when i heard someone saying I must mute the speakers, went out of the game to check this, exited TS just to be sure, and bingo cant get back into game... o well, thats motorsports for u! -=o)

Hi John, sorry you had issues, what we meant regarding muting the speaker is that there is an option in Team Speak beside the mute the mic button that mutes the Team Speak chat in game if you press it. That way when you go into the stage it allows anyone not in stage or finishing earlier than you to chat and it wont disturb you in your rally. Sorry if we caused you to drop out by making you think you had to leave the chat.

Cheers Al

Thanks to everyone for a great night again in the OC session. I had a mixed rally with some good runs on the gravel along with some shockers on the tarmac, a late entry to the rally and no practice will do that for you. Thanks to Warren and Senad for organizing and congrats to all the podium finishers.

Cheers Al

Thanks to everyone who joined, see you all next week :rally:

Please let me know if you notice any mistakes.

I quite enjoyed this Rally, but I found the car to be a bit twitchy and not easy to get used to. I ended up using Nigel's setup which I thought was better than the one I posted. It didn't ride the severe bumps as well, but overall it was more stable in controlling the rear end. :thanks:
This was an unusual car, and I think might take a while to get fully comfy with it, so I would have liked more time for some practice. However, I took a reasonably careful approach to this one and it seemed to pay off.

I made a few very silly mistakes early.
Frazier Wells, I stalled the engine on one of the high speed turns and had to virtually slow the car right down, drop it into neutral, fire it up, and get going again. No damage but cost me some time.
Hualapai Nation, I was going full revs on the looong uphill section, and as I came to the braking point I looked at the gear indicator to find I was driving in 4th for ages instead of 5th. DOH!!!.
Had a very lucky eacape on Cote d'Arbroz, crossing the red finish marker backwards and half way down the hill on the left, but it counted my time anyway. Oops!!

We again had a good roll up in the OC Session with most of us on Teamspeak again, thanks guys, it really adds to the fun.

Hopefully see you all next week for another Club Rally.

Just saw the results, Senad is like greased lightning getting these results published.
Oops, that makes the second time I have denied Nigel the overall win, sorry mate but I was a bit lucky this time. It's only a matter of time before you start leaving us in your dust.

Grats to Nigel and Jeremy.

Stage wins were nicely spread around too, nice to see.

Big welcome to Daniel and James (W), not an easy car for your first Rally with us, but hope to see you regularly joining Club Rallys. :welcome::welcome: Don't forget to have a look at the RDRC too, the new Season starts in a few weeks.

Thanks to all who joined this Group B challenge, it was certainly different.

Thanks to Senad for his Server management and super slick Results compilation. :thanks:

Next week we have another Driver Tribute Rally, but I'll leave you with only a small hint. He was the second (equal) most successful driver in WRC for Championship wins. :ups:

Another fun rally, and for something different i decided to drive this event with the H shifter, full manual style :D
had alot of fun jugeling the pedals as im no good at heal toe, so it was a combination of standard car pedaling and left foot braking.
Ill put a video up when its finished uploading so u can see some of my fancy foot work :p

congrads again to warren for his win, and to Nigel for the second place.
I was quite happy with how i drove no real mistakes, offs or rolls it was quite a tidy little run.
did have a close call with that big sign on the fast left in joux plane but missed it and carried on :p

It was a fun rally. Thanks to all for getting it together. I downloaded but did not install update 6, and at first I thought there was a problem because I was the only one in the session. Turns out, I was the only one in the session. SS1 and 2 was uneventful. SS3 and 4 several CFH's. SS5 my comp crashed to desktop. SS6 and 7, rolls, rolls and more rolls. SS8 smacked a tree in 4th gear just after the 1k mark. I finished the stage in 4th gear. I still really liked the car.

Grats Warren m8, you deserved that one, even taking into account my rubbish tarmac driving you had the edge anyway ad glad you liked my setup
Also Grats to Jeremy and all the other finishers, i`m really pleased with 2nd as it could have been a lot worse as i had a few near misses which would have put me a lot lower down

and thanks to Warren and Senad for setting it up and the results, cya all next week :D

Thanks for posting this Jeremy, I wonder if it will inspire others to try full manual with H Shifter.
Fancy footwork indeed, this car was probably more of a challenge for this style of driving, especially with the gear ratios being so close. At least on most stages, it was mainly 4th and 5th, but getting off the start line would have been "busy".

I'm definitely going to give this a try, maybe with the old Escort Mk2 or similar. I can now hook up my spare G25 Shifter as a handbrake using the Leo Bodnar adaptor.

Having trouble launching RSRBR 2011 after installing Update 06. I get the RSCenter 2011 has stopped working message. Interestingly enough, I reinstalled Update 06 and it worked... once... But then continued to give me this error every single time. I'm on Windows 7.

I know this is not the place for tech support but I might have to pass on the race if I wont be able to get it to work.

Alex, you have already missed the Rally, the US Session was scheduled for 03:00 GMT Tuesday .

Regarding your RSRBR problem, it sounds like something is blocking your RSCenter from working. Have you tried turning off your AV or firewall, or allowing RSRBR to run under Administrator rights?
Also, it may be that the Server was down temporarily when you tried, or your internet connection was faulty. Have you tried again later, I can enter RSRBR Public Sessions right now?

I'd suggest posting your problem at RallyeSim, they are helpful at solving those types of problems.

Nice one Jeremy. I was under the impression that the clutch doesn't work in RBR?

It works, but you can change gear without using clutch even when you turn the assists off.
Tho would have taken the fun out of it if i didnt use the clutch!

I'm definitely going to give this a try, maybe with the old Escort Mk2 or similar.

you should its alot of fun, and it can be a bit of a callenge through a windy variation of corners where you have to change gears alot!

Well, in spite of all my problems prior to the rally I managed to get a complete run without a retirement - it was not without it's flips and crashes which was ok considering it was like driving a different car (handbrake stuck on!!).

Well done to the podium places, thanks to the organizers and our friends down under for making me so welcome in their session.

Pete
