    Woo hype!!

Welcome to the 27th season of RaceDepartment's longest running forum game, forum racing. Last season saw a dominant cruise for Tim Engberink towards his maiden drivers' championship that he so narrowly missed out on two seasons earlier. The Dutchman however was constantly kept honest by his teammate, that would be me :p, and at the time reigning champion Tobi Kederer, despite the German missing about a third of the season. Therefore, it is expected that the battle will only heat up more in S27.

    How do I join?
Simple. Express your interest in the thread, say your full name (can be a fictional name), and your nationality (again, can be fictional). Find a team, or create one yourself. If you want to create your own team, there are some car designs to choose from here, or you can always request one to be made by either myself or some much better car painters out there. Or if you feel really creative you can make your own car. Here's a template to get started with. Just make sure the car has not been used in the past.

The race officially starts when I post "GOGOGO" together with an attached image of the track, and some race information, such as the race type. When the race starts, the goal is to post "start" or "finish" as fast as you can, depending on the race type. Speaking of the types, those are:

    Sprint Race
When a sprint race happens, you just simply post Finish as soon as possible

    Feature Race
After GOGOGO, post Start as soon as possible. Wait the hour and a minute before posting Pit, before the same gap and Finish. If you pit early, the hour and a minute is counted from the pitting, but penalties will still be applied.

    Endurance Race
After the race starts, post Start as soon as possible. You must then wait 12 hours and 1 minute before posting Finish.

A Rally consists of two spirnt races that start within 24h of each other, while the gap between the races has to be 2h at least. The overall result of the rally is counted from the combined times of the first two rallies.

The race will end when every contender finishes, or when 48 hours have passed since the last finisher.

    1st - 30 pts
    2nd - 26 pts
    3rd - 23 pts
    4th - 20 pts
    5th - 18 pts
    6th - 16 pts
    7th - 14 pts
    8th - 12 pts
    9th - 10 pts
    10th - 8 pts
    11th - 6 pts
    12th - 5 pts
    13th - 4 pts
    14th - 3 pts
    15th - 2 pts
All others who finish - 1 pt
    DNF - 0 pts

Bonus points for Feature and Endurance races:
Pole (be the first to post "start"): 2 points
Fastest Lap (the smallest time between start and finish, penalties included in time): 1 point

    Bonus points for Rallies:
    Stage win: 1 point

In feature and endurance races, if you post "pit" and/or "finish" too early, you will get a 30 minute penalty for every minute you posted it early.
Tagging other drivers and/or informing other drivers, in public, that the race is underway during the race is not allowed. When you tag your teammate, you will get a 2h penalty, and your teammate will get a 30 minute penalty. When you tag any other driver, you will get a 1h penalty and the tagged person gets nothing. You CAN however inform other drivers that the race has started through private messages.

If you post the wrong order (ex. "finish" instead of "start"), you cannot edit the order for 5 minutes. If you edit it earlier, you will get a 1h penalty.

I will not penalise order typos.
I will also not penalise double posts caused by technical failures, however, you cannot edit the second post before 5 minutes have passed in forum time.

If you complain too much, I do have the power to give out race bans, too.

    Start times
    Ah, the fun bit!
Each round will start at a different time. The times will all be based on GMT, in order to avoid troubles with daylight savings. Each race will have its unique starting hour, set by random.org, so two or more races will never start in the same hour.
The race may not start until 12 hours have passed since the results post, and it will start within 168h (7 days) of the results post.

When signing up for the game, you agree to take part for the entire season, not just a few races. Therefore, you are expected to take part in all the races. When you don't finish a race you will be classified as DNF. Collect 3 consecutive DNFs and you will lose the right to be waited for if you are the last remaining person to finish.

    1: Tim Engberink
    2: Daniel Harvey

Tim Engberink dominated both championships last season, together with Milos forming team unbeatable. However, once Milos left, Tim had to search for a new teammate. He wisely chose Daniel Harvey, the 3rd placed man, to form probably the best driver lineup on the grid, and the favourites for winning the constructors' championship.

    3: Tobi Kederer
    4: Andy Black

Kederer and Ferrari massively dropped off in form last season, after the German had to miss some races due to injury. But the Maranello squad saved up money again to build the S27 car, and Kederer is looking like the favourite for the WDC, and is joined in Ferrari by Andy Black, who is certainly not a no-name and is well respected in the Forum Racing paddock, so Ferrari might have a good shot at getting the WCC, too.

    5: Aidan Keranen
    6: Tapio Rinneaho

The McLaren team continues on for another season, and keeps its lineup very much unchanged, with Keranen staying with the team since S22 and Rinneaho since S23. Even though the team finished 3rd in the WCC for 3 straight seasons, their form has been continuously rising, and with a driver partnership as strong, this might just be their season.

    7: Donald Brugman
    8: Andy Graham

After finishing runner-up in the S25 championship, Brugman very much underperformed in the OMR. He now starts a new team together with Ken Tyrrell, to create this nice-looking machine. While this might be Donald's breakthrough year, the lack of a turbocharger will definitely hinder the team a little bit.

    Haasn't F1
    9: Jason Lutz
    10: Sasha Jednak

Haas slightly underperformed with only one driver last season, and their income was very low, so the new car is just a re-skin of the last season's car. However, Haas (now Haasn't) did also find a second driver in Jednak, which will certainly see the team moving up the grid in the future.

    Marvel-ous Racing
    11: Manolis Sigoulakis
    12: N/A

Sigoulakis finally decided to leave the massively outdated Grip Racing squad to form a new team with the leftover money from that S19 championship, and it is Marvel-ous Racing, and a team that reigning world champion would probably love to drive for :p. But while they couldn't snatch Engberink, Sigoulakis might just perform better in a brand new car, and it will be interesting to see if he can repeat the S19 antics. Alongside Sigoulakis, the team tried to sign his former teammate, and Forum Racing veteran Omer Said, and the deal fell through, however, the coup in Turkey stopped that from happening.

    Force India
    14: Oorjit Mishra
    15: N/A

Mishra debuted last season in Raider, a team run by Steven Poirier, but now that Poirier abandoned the team, Mishra decided to make his own, in Force India. Will a car built around the Indian give him the results he wants? That remains to be seen.

    16: Ben Utzer
    17: Andrea Dovizioso

Ben Utzer endured arguably his worst season last season after not scoring a single podium. There have been rumours about the break-up with AMG after the departure of Brugman, so the German must be hoping that a brand new car will result in an increase in form. To help him on the quest is Dovizioso, the Italian returning to the forum racing paddock after a 2-season break.

    DS Virgin Racing
    18: Jack Laskey
    19: Jimmy Laad

Jimmy Laad returns to forum racing after a year off for moderation, and is partnered with Jack Laskey, to form an all British lineup. The new team chose an interesting path with an electric powertrain, but we're yet to see how it shapes out against the other fuel-powered cars.

Two competitors less, that thing will be even slower than Omer's 6 years old Grip machine

And yeah, back in. Going for #1 in overall wins, shouldn't be that much left I suppose (@Benutzername)?

    Team name please
    Ferrari again I assume?

Keep in mind you'll need to be painting brand new cars, or at least modify the old ones, but the car must not have been used before. (added this to the rules now, seems like I forgot it when I was typing :p)

yeah Ferrari, will try to get a new one done this weekend.

Btw, thought Rally was a goner?
