June 18, 2007 -- SimBin, a multiple award winning game studio, today announces that RACE: CATERHAM—the official expansion pack for RACE – The WTCC Game—is now available for free on Steam, a leading online platform for the distribution and management of PC games. For this week only, June 18-22, current owners of RACE can download the full version of RACE: CATERHAM for free. After the special promotion ends on June 22, the Caterham Expansion will be available for purchase on Steam (www.steampowered.com) for $4.95. RACE and the CATERHAM Expansion will be available together for $24.95.

It's free forever if you download now. (and even if you miss it and download later it's less than a pack of cigarettes or a beer at your local pub)

This is done as a gesture from SimBin to the loyal RACE fans.. everyone who is into RACE will read the news on community forums and/or start up RACE and get the message through steam... so everyone into simracing and playing RACE will get the addon for absolutely free. Consider it a round of applause from SimBin to everyone into Simracing, giving back to the comunity and all that stuff

Hopefully this will means that a HUGE amount of people get into the Caterhams and gives us all a lively and active online community.

Well the update and the caterham pack has done nothing but give me bad news

First my controller causes the game to crash, so now so it's back to a keyboard for now and also when I enter a saved championship my lovely leon has now turned into a caterham. I exited and the restarted the championship and now everyone is driving a safety car!! lol

Is this update a joke?

Hi Siggsy, just a wild one, but did you try to create a new profile for your controller? I did that and had no problems. However, the force feedback settings are very different and now I am fiddling like hell trying to get my "old" feel back.

The controls are now set in a uncrypted PLR (good thing) so you can now change everything manually and adjust it so it fits you.

Here is the path:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\YourName\race\UserData\ControlSet

Yup thats one of the really nice things in this patch.. the ability to set up your controller PRECISELY as you want it.

Well i tried to create a new profile but it still keeps crashing and producing a steam *.dmp file - I opened that in wordpad (hard to decipher) but I got the message that it has something to do with my controller (using a playstation2 gamepad with speedlink adapter).

So no idea really - I'll try again tomorrow night and see what happens. Strange bug with the already saved championships though ( changing cars and even changing to all safety cars )

Try unplugging your controller.. does it work then ?
With regards to the saved championship that sounds extremely wierd. I'll do my best to make sure the info reaches SimBin so they can investigate.

Sorry, was answering Warren but also adding the other problems - but as you know Bram, some people tend not to read all pages in a thread and the fact that there was over 2 hours between the posts, I'd forgotten what I'd written

Can you launch Race with the option '-dev'. (Start Steam, Get the properties of Race, Click Set launch options..., type '-dev' (without quotes)

When you have the mini-dump, rar it and mail it to me please.

It is definetely not working for me.
It updated to 100%, clicking the "get it now" button only ends in the message:
"Double-Registration. This uptade already has been assigned to another (probably mine?) account."

Cats are not shown.
The browser tells me just about an "unknown" series.
I tried to join it: "You need the expansion pack"

...lol?

Caterham expansion downloded...it works fine, but, even if my profile is in the game, i have lost all my force feedback wheel setups and all the commands setup like accelerator, breaks, clutch, views, gear up and down and so on!!!
Am i the only one?

No, unfortunately you're not the only one - it seems to have effected most if not everyone

I also lost all controller settings.
Then I drove and my first laps were 4 seconds slower (!)
Very annoying.

But it's also a chance to create a new setup
Now I'm confident.
