Protests

#1 Rob van Starkenburg - Eduard Mallorqui Lap 4 T7

Protest: Both drivers are arriving to Les Combes, with Mallorqui being on the outside and van Stakernburg in the inside. In the last moment he closes the door braking in diagonal, sending Mallorqui to the wall and ending his race.

Review: In the view of the director, the primary cause for this incident was the late braking of Mallorqui, rather than the move of Starkenburg. Before the braking zone, Mallorqui follows Starkenburg closely, but there is nevertheless a gap such that Mallorqui is never alongside with any part of his car. During the braking, Starkenburg indeed moves slightly towards the outside. I judge this as a normal response to gain a better corner entry, which is ok as long as there is no car alongside. Mallorqui in turn brakes clearly later than on his previous laps, while he should have taken more caution with a car close in front. If Mallorqui had been alongside Starkenburg at all during the entry, the verdict would naturally have been different.

Verdict: Racing incident.
