Race 07 specular/fresnel maps, cube maps. How please?

  1. Hiya. Me again.
    I see some maps in some cars that look to me like specular maps. I've seen reference, without details, about single files being used as specular/fresnel maps, using different color channels for each map. I've also found some cube maps for some cars, and tried to alter them, ending up with only crashes for my efforts. Pretty sure I saved the cube-map in the wrong dds format, but can find no reference as to how exactly to save them. Nor can I figure out how to read the format from the original dds file. I have the nVidia tools, but none of them seem to do this as far as I can tell.
    Please help!! I'd really like to play with these. Seems cars could be made to look QUITE nice indeed using these.

    If you think its in the dds formatting, did you change the dropdown box on the left, in the dds Save box, from 2D to Cube Mapping?

  3. OH GEEZ~!! I didn't even notice that box .. I did look, but in the top left dropdown where that option isn't, rather than the dropdown below that, where that option IS.
    Thanks .. I'll hafta mess with that some more then. SHEESH!! silly me
    Got any tips on doing specular/fresnel maps? I'm not finding any info on that yet.
