Possible bugs with RSRBR2011

I have opened this post since there are a few early bugs being reported with RSRBR2011.
It might be wise to keep them together rather than have them spread across various threads.

If you find a bug, report it here, so we can try to confirm or help solve it.

Guys, I need some help. One of my friend reinstalled his system today, he installed the RBR + RSRBR twice, but he still gets this:

Hiba_Piribram_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg

The 'factory' stages work fine, but every addon stages do this for him. Has anybody any idea what's the problem? :) He uses Win XP OS.

Might not be a biggie but still something what I found when I was tweaking suspensios of Impreza N14 Prodrive. When I load a previously saved setup and check the rear suspension geometry, all the settings are wrong, ie ride height over 100mm lower than it should be. Then if I check something else, and come back to these settings, they are normal. Car feels normal to drive no matter if you re-check or not.

Having a relatively big issue, started happening recently.

I start RSCenter, take the correct car class, click on Go, and the game gives me the default car
Happens in single player and multiplayer, happens if the car class is determined in the session, or if it's free choice.

Restarting RSCenter solves it, I think, but that's not really a good option... Any ideas?

a bug that I've encounter last rally club.

Stages are Rally School and Pirka Minoko(default setting)

this maybe an isolated case because its the first time that this thing happen to me, we already race in Pirka a couple of times with no problem at all, though this time with the ak6 car my game crash.. how:

1. hit go in rscenter
2. load a setup I've found for the car
3. hit drive stage
4. now waiting for the countdown.. before the co-driver speak the game exited back to rscenter with the result of Retired.

Have you tried changing the compatibility? On Win7 switching to XP SP3 seems to be a common solution for this problem (as I always post when anyone mentions native-Sweet Lamb problems).

I've done this and when I have a free time I will make an public session with the same setup as the Lightweight rally but only the RS and Pirka and see if this will fix the problem.

any other thoughts you guys have why this bug happen?

Thanks!

Terri, I doubt that this has anything to do with Rally School or Pirka Minoko, we have used those Stages many times in the Rally Club (with a variety of cars) without anyone experiencing that problem.

HOWEVER:

I think I have had the same issue a few times, when running off-line. Occasionally it dumps back to RSCenter during the countdown. When I repeat the same stage it works fine, and it has happened on various Stages randomly. Usually it happens when I hit the throttle just as the guy calls out the countdown.
Here is my (totally uneducated) theory.
It may have something to do with simultaneously loaded sound files?? It seems to me to happen if I cause the engine sound to start revving at the very same time the guy calls the countdown number. I wonder if the sounds try to load at the same moment and it causes a momentary conflict. Who knows, just my observation.:confused::confused:
I have found that if I wait until the countdown has started and gently apply the throttle before he gets to "Go", I don't have the crash.

Go figure, maybe I'm way off here, but don't know what else to offer.

BTW, in your other post in the "The Lightweights" thread, you were worried about the Stages since Rick "Had the same problem". Rick's issue was different, the Sweet Lamb Stage wouldn't even load for him, which suggests a totally different problem which may be related to that Stage only for his installation. In your case the Stages have loaded fine.

Can the crash be reproduced? Does it happen with other cars? Does it happen when NOT using the DL-ed setup (looks like a possible culprit)? System?

I will try to test a public session with the same setup as the rally lightweights with:

1. same car + same setup
2. same car + no setup(default)
3. different car

I'll update you guys when I'm done with the testing

Thanks

Thanks for sharing your theory! and yes I always push the throttle even if the count-down hasn't started yet, I think I should practice your tip of not to rev-up until the countdown has began just to be on the safe side :D

about the sweet lamb, I see so its a totally different problem now I know.

Thanks again!

good theory, because I never rev until the guy has reached the "one" and have never had this behaviour. Conflicting sound files (thunder and pit guy simultaneously, for instance) are a common cause in crashes in Race07, so may as well be the culprits here, too.

I may have discovered another bug, not sure if anyone else has come across it.

Over the past week. I have been testing cars for possible future Rallys, and have discovered an annoying problem with the Group H - Ford Escort Mk5.
If I drive this car, I end up with lots of scattered Folders and files throughout my RBR Installation. Many of the Folders are empty. It's now happened on two separate RSRBR Installations, on two separate PC's (one Win XP, the other Win 7). I'm using RSRBR2011 with Updates to 05.

Here are the Folders I get created:

Many folders named MyPhysics_ (with a series of dates/ numbers beside them).
c_xsara
h_accent
m_lancer
mg_zr
michelin
Misc
p_206
pirelli
s_i2000
s_i2003
t_coroll

Also, the following files in the root directory of RBR:

common.lsp
d_gravel.lsp
d_snow.lsp
d_tarmac.lsp
gravel.lsp
localphysics.lsp
physics.dat
physics.lsp
r_gravel.lsp
r_snow.lsp
r_tarmac.lsp
repair.ini
snow.lsp
tarmac.lsp
tyres.lsp

It looks to me like this car is opening the Physics file and altering things, and creating new separated / fragmented files and folders.
Many of these may be harmless , but each time you use the Escort Mk5, you get new MyPhysics_xxxxxx Folders, which just clogs up space.
I'm not sure if this lead to my recent PC freezing issue in the Full Monte Rally.

I'd be interested to see if others have found this one, but if not, be warned.

Pity, it's a damned nice RWD Car for us to use. :frown:

EDIT 1: It looks like someone else has reported a similar problem at RallyeSim (but with the Escort Mk2):

http://forum.rallyesim.fr/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8468

They say that deleting the two 7z.exe files might be a fix, but that didn't work for me. I've added my info to the post.

EDIT 2: I just tested the Group H - Escort Mk2 and have the same problem. :frown:

Has anyone else encountered the problem I described in my previous post?
Or more importantly, have others been able to run the Group H Escorts without the file scattering problem?

I've tried updating to the latest version of 7z (as advised by RallyeSim) but it made no difference. I'm not getting any further feedback at RallyeSim either, so not sure what to do now.:confused::confused:

Unless I can get some further feedback, I'm reluctant to organise future Rallys using the Escorts, which would be a real shame. :frown:

BTW, If anyone wants to test this, just run a stage off-line with either of the Escorts and check your file / folders. If the scattered files / folders are created, you just need to remove them again, it shouldn't cause any further problems. I've listed the files etc that would need to be removed.

I can't run any more tests while I'm away, but I'll test some more car packs / classes when I return next week.
