Damm , only a 9th place for Robert.
I hope he can do something about that.
If Bourdais wins tomorow he will be champion as the race in Phoenix is canceld.
Anyway i`m gonna go and see the race.

Champcar GP Assen

Today whas the Champcar GP at Assen.
I whas there and shot some photo`s.

The race itself whas absolutly great.
Lap one whas the bottleneck for Paul Tracy as he went straight to the pit to return for 5 laps and whas the first official driver that went out of the race.
Bruno Junquera drove on the first lap a puncture and made it to the pits.
He rejoint the race in last place.
After a few laps came the 2th yellow flag and everybody went into the pits.
But not Bruno, and so he drove in first place for a long time and even managed to take a 9 sec lead on the number 2 Justin Wilson.
Boudais whas at that time in 5th place and Doornbos on P11.
Doornbos did not make a good inpression and hat trouble passing the only female driver Legge.
After they hat to pit he passed her in the pit.
Bruno hat to make a pitstop before the other drivers and so he whas again at the back of the pack.
After another pit from the restBruno managed to hold at 3th place and could keep that til the end of the race.
Jan Heylen whas the man of the day, started on P7 and drove a very strong race and made no mistake or what so ever and finisht on P2.
Bourdais made it to 7th place after a mistake in the pits ( he pusht the pit limiter button and letting the engine stall ).
Very embarresing whas that in the last lap Robert Doornbos hat to come in for a splash and dash and lost his 9th place to finish 13th.

So not a good weekend for the dutchmen.
Belgian Jan Heylen drove the stars from heaven with his performance.

Below some photo`s.

A great day and luckely no rain.
I hope they will be back next year.

I saw the race on TV, and I'm happy I didn't went to Assen tbh.

Other CC races where much more exciting. I hope for you the support classes where more interesting.

And it's already confirmed that next year CCWS will visit Assen again.

Well Ben, from what a friend of mine has said (he was there at Assen aswell) it was boring watching it live too.

I didn't see it myself but I'm glad I didn't bother now.

Nice photos though Wido :)

I hate to say it, but i agree with Ben. It was a very dull race to watch. Almost no overtaking (track is too narrow). I have seen a lot more exciting CC races than this one.

Furthermore, Robert Doornbos can forget about the championship. Now he has to fight for second place, because Justin Wilson took the 2nd spot from Robert.

Nevertheless, a very nice photoimpression made by you, Wido :)

The race itself whas not to spectaculair.
But the crowd and the scene arround it made it mutch better.
One thing a did mis whas more than one stand with merchandise.
From Minardi there where plenty, but from the rest just 1 stand.
So i bought nothing.

I just heard that there where a lot of complaints from surrounding neighbours.
They will do everything to stop them from comming back next year.
Pfffffff, there goes the taxpayers money.
And the same people will be standing at every big event on the gate of there green grassland to collect 5 euro from people to park there cars on his land.........hypocrits

lol, on TV I saw it was just 60 db, some road cars even make more noise... :p

And besides that, you should ask them: what was here earlier, the track or you?
Then they can't complain anymore.

Besides that, anyone else going to A1 this year? Last year was awesome! (The crowd, the scene AND the race :p)

What about this then......Michel Perridon ( trust ) wants to own a champcar team !!
Insiders have told that Perridon is in serious nagotiations with concuest ( Jan Heylen ) racing.

And another company that goes bankrupt.

Colin McRea dies in helicopter crash

Colin McRae, the succesfull rally-driver and inspiration for one of the greatest rallygame-series, and his 5 year old son, have died in a helicopter crash.
The crash happened right next to Colin's house in Lanark, Scotland. Colin was flying the heli himself, which caught fire right after the crash. Together with Colin, there were 2 other passengers inside the heli. It's still unknown who these persons are. According to the press, Colin's wife and daughter were not in the helicopter.

- More info will follow -

On behalf of the whole RPM-team and community, I wish Colin's relateds the very best in this hard period !!!

R.I.P. Mr. McRae and thanks for great memories and rally games !!!
