Sector3 Studios have released a few more teaser images of the upcoming Volvo S60 Polestar TC1 machine from the 2016 World Touring Car Championship - due to appear in RaceRoom Racing Experience this year as part of the newly updated WTCC 2016 car pack.

The Volvo brand as a whole has a rather bizarre cult status amongst racing fans, with many 'neutral' fans following the Swedish marque throughout its many motorsport activities. Perhaps as a leftover from the early British Touring Car days fielding the venerable 850 estate, or maybe due to the lively appearance of more recent models and a status of somewhat the underdog in racing circles, it is in no doubt that the inclusion on the S60 Polestar TC1 due to be added to the WTCC 2016 pack is a very welcome move by Sector3, and the car should prove very popular amongst fans of the sim.

The version due to be released for RaceRoom Racing Experience is the same car as piloted by Fredrik Ekblom, Thed Bjork, Robert Dahlgren and Nestor Girolami during the 2016 season as it went up against opposition from Honda, Citroen, Chevrolet and Lada on route to securing victory in Japan and tenth overall in the drivers championship for Bjork.

No definite release date for the S60 or WTCC 2016 pack has been revealed, however judging from the recent shots the car looks to be in an advanced state of development already so one could reasonable expect to see a release in the next couple of months.

For those who are interested you can see the relevant car data below for the Volvo S60 Polestar TC1 World Touring Car machine:

    Engine: 4-cylinder, 1595 cc, Drive–E Volvo

Suspension: MacPherson front and rear, adjustable Öhlins dampers

Brakes rear: 2-piston caliper, 280mm ventilated discs

    Body: Steel and carbon fibre
    Weight: 1100 kg

Sweet, and taking the timing of the 2015 pack last year into account, these should be primed for a mid-January release.

It better be, a delay as we had one with the August patch will hurt the game so bad.

In the right lightning condition R3E can look extremely good. In others it looks flat and cartoony.

I am also a huge fan of the Volvo but I wish the 2016 pack is balanced as the real life, cause either no fast guy is driving the Citroen or the honda/Chevy are just better in person 15 pack, even the Lada.
    Looking forward

Hope it's for VR then, after having driven assetto, iRacing and Project cars in VR I can't wait to try this, To be fair it's hard to go back to non VR racing once you've tried it, so full rift support would be ace :)

I was saying "huge update" since S3 usually puts other undocumented things, like cars, liveries, and tracks, which makes the updates a little over a gig in size.
