New graphic card

Discussion in 'Sim Racing Hardware' started by Adrian Falcon, Sep 8, 2014.

  1. Hi everyone!
Two years ago I bought an AMD Radeon HD 7770, but talking with several people, I've noticed that it hasn't the performance it should. I have 200€ (260$) to spend in a new graphic card to play Project Cars, Assetto Corsa and rFactor 2 in max settings. I've thought in a R9 270x but I want to hear other opinions. I'm also interested if there is any possibility to have bottleneck with my processor.
    My pc specifications:
    -Processor: Intel Core i5-3330 CPU @ 3.00GHz
-Graphic card: AMD Radeon HD 7770 Series 1024 mb
    -RAM: 8gb
    -Motherboard: P8Z77-M PRO

  2. No chance of a bottleneck on an i5 with that card.
I have an R9 270X Hawk edition. It's a very good card. Slightly faster than the normal (it was on sale and worked out cheaper than the regular 270X).
It's quiet, pushes poly's about like you would expect and is fairly cheap.

Plays BF4 on High very well. Played AC very well although i struggled with the AA (Just always seemed jaggy).
Should play CARS on High settings no problem (videos on YouTube testify to this).
Don't think anything runs Rfactor 2 all that well atm.

My advice is search youtube for "i5 R9 270X" and the name of the game you want to see in action. There's always dozens of videos and you can see for yourself how pretty games are and how well they run.
  3. Hey Bryan, thanks for your raply. Finally I didn't get any card. I'll wait till they are cheaper ;)
