I am faster with the Stang than the Vette bud that's me of course

You are definitely over-driving the Corvette then.

I was exactly the same until I "slowed down" in the Vette, when I immediately went way faster than in the Stang.

Rupe will bear me out on this, I went past him in his Stang on the straight like he was standing still on beta testing a couple of weeks ago. You just have to be patient, brake that much earlier, get on the gas that much later and be that much smoother in steering with the Vette, and then once the wheels are in the right direction, use those extra horses.

Was testdriving the car, all over the place instead on the tarmac all most throw my steering wheel out the window !

You definitely CAN make a false start in GTL - which will result in a Stop/Go penalty.
