View the Post on the BlogThe phenomenal Pagani Zonda R rounds out our inaugural week of daily motorsport pictures, seen here taking on the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit.
The Zonda R is powered by a 6.0 litre V12 located at the rear of the car. It is considered a “track car” rather than a thoroughbred racing vehicle. Unfortunately, it is not legal for the 15 worldwide owners of the car to set their insanely expensive set of wheels on a public road, to the disappointment of motoring fans all over the world.
Reportedly, the Zonda R broke the Nurburgring Nordschleife lap record for a “road based car” with Germany’s Marc Basseng at the wheel. A monstrous lap of 6m 47 seconds was achieved in the early hours of the morning, a full 11 seconds faster than the Ferrari 599XX. Even more impressive is that the road-based car is within 10% of the fastest ever lap recorded by the Porsche 956, which is a pure-bred racing car.
The sight of a Zonda R bouncing off the kerbs on the Nordschleife is enough to make any car fan salivate, a laudable motorsport photo of the day!
