Mod Night events

Chris Butcher

Red Bull Gridsters 2012 Champion
Ok chaps, here's the deal. I will be shortly taking over RACE events on the mod nights, so I need to know what kind of mod you guys would like to run. I've not set this as a poll because I want it to be an open choice. Responses below please :)

Suggestions so far:

Escorts
DTM 2008-2010
Audi RS4
Porsche 997/Ferrari F430
Alpine Hills (track)
Maserati from FIA GT 2008 Mod for GTR Evo
True2Life Racing Porsche Mobil1 SuperCup 2007
Audi R8 V10

What time are your races going to be held? I'm PDT/US time zone. I'm 8hrs behind. But I can't race those times anymore due to work. I need to find a time to race after midnight my time. 09:00/10:00 am GMT. BTW cool to see you as staff member dude!

Hiroshi, these are EU timezone events and practice will begin at 1900GMT.

Thanks Péter. Come on guys, more of you must have some ideas. 43 views and only 1 suggestion. This is your club, and we want to make it as enjoyable as possible, and can only do that with your feedback.

Audi RS4 mod

I would like to see a race for the Audi RS4 mod for GT Sport.
It comes with 7 skins.
If more than 7 drivers then include
GT Sport BMW M3 and/or
GT Sport Seat Toledo
(because they are similar front engine cars).

I think Autopolis90 or Hitchin would be good. For something a bit more fun maybe Longford67.

Just did a cautious 6:02 at Alpine Hills in a Caterham 260.
Suggested cars for Alpine Hills:
1. Maserati from "FIA_GT_2008_Mod_for GTR_Evo_v2_1.7z"
2. "True2Life Racing Porsche Mobil1 SuperCup 2007 v1_2 by True2Life Racing-Gunthar Rowe.7z"
3. Audi R8 V10 (more powerful version of the Audi R8 street car from GTR-Evolution).

I am not sure if this is permitted but I could create a modified version of the Fiat 500 Abarth from the GTL 1.3 Mod that does not conflict with STCC2. I can make it 5 gears instead of 4 (the real life one that was in competition in the late 60's was 5 speed) to help it up the hill at Alpine Hills. I could zip it and send it to you for you to put on your server. We would probably need the permission of the modder though.

PS A 1000CC Fiat 500 Abarth competed a Le Mans. I think it was in 1968. I have four skins for this car that can be used.

I am with you on the concept Ted. Way back we used to run VW Polo races I think on Friday evenings with rFactor. What made the event such fun is that there were the bare minimum that you could change to the cars setup. That also solved the "does a great setup make you faster" mystery for me.

Would love to comment/add on other mod ideas but I don't really have any mods installed.

Would love to have Clio racing event. They are nice uncomplicated little cars that are easy to set up for beginers ( and can test those of you who are experts!)

This should be allowed with the owner's permission.

Unfortunately, the RACE 07 version of the Clio mod isn't legal, and therefore we won't run it at RD.

I'll have a look at that. I'll have a look at and do testing with any mods suggested here that I can confirm as legal, or have no reason to believe is illegal.

Whoops sorry Chris! I had no idea that the Clio Mod was not legal .... what a shame! What would we have to do to make it legag? Do you know who owns it? I would like to talk to someone to see what, if anything, could be done.

Hi Chris,

Yes, I know but I was actually just trying to get the idea accross (not being able to change a lot of setup variables) not really the sim type but I don't know if such a car exist in the Race '07 series.

Another track that I think might work quite well for endurances racing like the Minis would be Potrero de Los Funes 2010 as mentioned in InsideSimRacing this week. It is a odd 2:40min track but I don't know about it's legality.

I don't unfortunately.

@ Pieter - we are looking for Race 07 mods, not rFactor :)

Potrero alias San Luis is a great GT-Track btw. The GT1 final last year was held there and it will be the case also for this year ;)

The Audi RS4 is fun to drive.

I don't know if the BMW Z4 GT3 I have is a legal conversion (I know they got the permission to convert from the guys, who made the GTR2 version, but the GTR2 guys might have taken the model from Shift 2), but it's pretty damn great.
