I hadn't been playing R07 after I bought GSC12 a while ago and also upgraded to Windows 8. So I wanted to give it a go a try it again. But what a surprise when I discovered that every car had missing LCD info!
I know from Windows XP that when I set 16bit colors the same happened. But config screen shows me 32bit modes and only one 800x600x16bit mode. So what's wrong? Looks as if the 32bit modes it shows aren't 32bit modes at all because when I chose that 800x600x16, LCD worked fine. I found out that when I start config.exe directly outside Steam, sometimes all display modes appear.
And now possible solution what to do when you happen to have the same problem. I've read about people having this issue.
Open config.ini from \users\*user name*\documents\simbin\race 07
and edit "VIDEOMODE=" to something like "VIDEOMODE=99". Just a random high number.
When you start the game, config screen should appear and with bit of a luck all screen modes should appear. Now choose your 32bit resolution and should be fixed now. You can compare videomode number in config.ini, if the number is really different one. Mine was. Now LCD works again as it should.
