Lost my red position dot on the track map

Not sure how it happened, but while racing rental karts last night, I happened to notice that I couldn't see myself on the track map. You know the little red dot on the map that represents your current position? Mine has gone missing. Is that something I've accidentally turned off? How can I get it back on? (Using current Steam version.)

Edit: Attached example images. First screenshot is my original v1.21 install, 2nd screen is Steam v1.25. Note the red dot on the track map. I think it's something I've done while either messing in my Controls settings or something else. Have tried restoring original plr file but that made no difference.

Problem solved. Posting an update here just in case it might help anyone else in the future. Basically I just did a Steam integrity check...

Right-clicked on the game in "Library".
Clicked "Properties".
On "Local Files" tab, clicked "Verify Integrity of Game Cache".
Steam then determined I was missing a handful of files, downloaded and installed them (about 35MB).

And to my delight, there was my little red position marker on the track map again. Happy days.
