Logitech G27 Force Feedback FFB Assetto Corsa - A.S way

WheelCheck.. FCM tool Lut Converter.. FFBClip App .. tried them all . . and wasted alot of time testing pretty much every guide out there.. till i was like.. ok . time to think.. and not replicate things like a parot.. and VIO LA.. never been so good before. G27 Owners .. simplicity is DEVINE!

The confusion and frustration of the G27 not being a good wheel and the pain to set it up correctly.. its your christmas today.. try.. and thank me later.
Without going into once again confusing technical details.. straight forward.

1)
120% in oder to eliminated the "deadzone behaviour" or interfacing bug of the G27 completly - just by doing that

40% - 55% dampening, because otherwise your wheel will turn loose if car isn´t rolling. Standing rubbers still provide resistance on the steering wheel. ( i have to in 70% as the not roll resistance should be higher than the slow roll one)

Under C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Assetto Corsa\cfg in the controls.ini file edit like this:

Create a file Linear.txt file in the C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Assetto Corsa\cfg folder, open it with notepad or editor and add:

There you go, you wanted a linear G27.. there you have it now.

After that, rename the Linear.txt file to " Linear.lut" (lima, utha, tango) and save it.

4)

Open the ff_post_process.ini file and change it to:

Open the assetto_corsa.ini file under :\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\system\cfg and make sure the following part look like this

[FF_EXPERIMENTAL]
ENABLE_GYRO=0
DAMPER_MIN_LEVEL=0.0
DAMPER_GAIN=1.0

Here you can also use 60-70% as GAIN Main and Filter ZERO !!

Also, what i use (yes! 50% filltering..makes the G27 with the above smooth as silk :) )

Glad to see someone sharing my opinion about all the guides, tools etc. that are out there!
Seems like we did the exact same path and just weren't satisfied! :cautious::whistling:

Your guide is nicely structured and a lot of true things are in there! :thumbsup:
I just don't like the "notch" you get when you just raise the overall FFB in the profiler.

2 things for you:
Your "linear" lut doesn't do anything. The default FFB is completely linear and exactly what you typed in.
The dampening looks interesting though! But in my opinion the G27 already rotates too slowly for drifting etc. so I disabled it.
BUT: when you give the 0| XX value in the LUT a value, the wheel starts to make some noise in center position. This gives some kind of "dampening" when moving around the center while driving.
But if you raise the profiler overall FFB over 100%, this value starts to mess up your wheel. Shaking, turning etc etc.

Please see this reply as a big compliment! We need people like you :)

Dampening in AC works a lot differently than any other sim. (referring to the dampening setting in the logitech profiler)

Dampening only affects your steering wheel when the car is stationary. It has zero affect when you are driving. Think of it as a 'stationary friction' adjustment rather than dampening in the normal sense that every other game uses it.

So, at 0%, your wheel will rotate freely when you are stationary. At 100%, it likely wont budge. I have settled on 35%, as I like some small resistance and weight in the wheel since it feels more natural.

Does the damper slider in the profile affect the wheel while driving or does it just enable this stationary effect?
 
At Rasmus .. i tried everything (pretty much you had on this forum) .. that non-satisfaction is the reason why i came up with my own. I understand your point of view.. but i think it is flawed at some points.. You approached it different.. respected.. but also consider..i approached "from different angle"

1) maybe the FFB physics is more "script" than you think.. and the "common sense" you use (i) used does not fly here .. i smells like it ALOT
2) My testings and results put a BIG SMILE in my face.. yours did not

a couple more lines in the linear.lut. makes is nicer around the dead-zone i figured.


btw.. you have to know.. that i reduce the CAR GAIN individually ! .. and also, you need to know, that i always start with cars i am familiar with as test-bed ..in this case with BMW M1 and M3 (i built those ****ers in the past)

yeaaaah.. i ran some measurement applications.. and figure.. that IS THE ONLY CORE-CAUSE way to eliminate the natural hardware/electronics based deadzone out of the G27 ;)

for auto-recentering wheel faster in drifts.. add 20% recenter.. it will work.. ALTHOUGH the box is checked .. allow application to control it. Alot of things dont makes sense..i worked retroductive (not speculative or assumptions and re-confirmation test-series.. but instead reconstructive analytic aka backwards - and old greek methods used not often enough imo.)

sidenote.. it always comes to :

- minute mechanical play in hardware translating to bigger play on wheel
- sensor data quality and resolution (frequency read and precission)

always same story.. and the g27.. well it serves well..IFFFF tuned right..otherwise.. a oldtimer.
