After discussions with Warren over a few ideas our GTL event for next week is something rather tasty!
Lets head over to the small nation of San Marino for an Italian feature race with the Ferrari 275GTB at Imola.
With a one make field and a track that throws up most corner types and various length straights this should be a fantastic event.

Chris,
Try my setup attached here.

It's not really mine (it's from Rik Saeys at SimJunkies) I just modded it a bit, but it helped me quite a bit. Haven't done many laps with it but it took about 2 secs off my lap time. Well, that was also after I learned to drive more carefully with brakes and down shifts lol.

Yep, the Group of GTL drivers here is small but very friendly and clean. I really enjoy it and hope others discover how great it is too.

EDIT: I have posted a hotlap which may also help.

It might be interesting to see some strategy here then, it looked to me that it might be possible to not do one but you would need to drive very carefully.

I think it is good when it is left to strategy and not compulsory.

I gave it a try and could only do 26 laps, in fact ran out of fuel just before the line after 25 laps. The tyres survived but not the fuel.

I messed up my pitstop again, and threw myself out of the game. I guess that was OK since I was driving badly. Sorry for the lack of control. I did well in Quali, but I think that I tapped someone on lap 1. I waited for him, and was about last. I had a few good battles, but kept losing control whenever I got to try an overtaking maneuver. I really need to find a way to practice those. I am lapping much faster in the clear, but I lose my focus when I get close to someone. Thanks all for the race! Hopefully I'll have better concentration on Saturday for the FD event.

 All gone wrong, thank god the CTD saved my blushes. Not having a particularly good spell with GTL this week, rubbish at Warwick Farm, rubbish tonight. Oh well, not the end of the world! It's a very humid night tonight in Croydon so I'm off for a beer. Hope to see most of you at the FD event Saturday - hope my bad run doesn't continue for long.

Simon.

well, i knew that qual is not my cup of tea, i dont expect too much, i started from 8 or something. After race start i was hit out in the first corner so i dropped back. Than i thought i'll be happy if i can reach p5. I quicky came up until 6. After that i drove lonely. in the 26th lap i just come out for a little fuel, i had a 12s pitstop and came back for 4th about 5 secs from Warren, fortunatly he went out to the pit again, so finally i came 3rd, or i won couse the guys ahaed had som trouble or something in last lap, so i really dont know the result. even if im 3rd im really glad, thats more than i expected after my first corner spin.

good race and very long .started 2nd and in the 4th turn pressed too much on the throttle .the tyres were cold i spun and then i was last. later had good battles with warren ben and spun about 3 times. in the end finished 3rd.
i suggest next time we will have a race with the 70s car like bmw and escort. knock hill ( the track in no grip) is an excellent drifiting track and it should be great fun. what do u say?

My race: Had a good quali and started first.
Race till pitstop went perfect, was leading all the time even made a 2:14.7.
But the pitstop went totally wrong, I lost about 25 sec's.
But even with that, I could overtake Peter in last lap, after I spun and got STOP/GO for cutting (I didn't even got a warning before!!!) very sad with that, so I crossed the line first but were only 2nd in total because of the STOP/GO.
:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

That turned into an unusual race, but once again I enjoyed it. It is so much fun just learning to drive these cars, every one is so different, and it's not until the actual race starts that you learn how they truly handle under pressure. That's the pleasure of GTL to me, just enjoy the drive even if you are not up front.
I thought the Ferrari was nice to drive actually, but what was Enzo thinking when he decided to put those horrible brakes in this car?? Geez, sometimes I was wondering if it would ever stop. lol.

Well, this race for me was all about fuel, or how badly I judged it. She was a thirsty brute.

Qualy was ok for me, P6 but with a PB of 2.15 something.

The Race start was reasonable, held my position for once, even passed Evo for a while when he went sight seeing (a couple of times  ). I slowly moved up the order, I assume people were pitting or spinning, to get as high as P2 before pitting. I went earlier than I planned, dropped in what I thought was enough, and rejoined in a nice battle behind Evo again and a couple of others. I was expecting to have some close racing from then, but noticed the fuel dropping like a stone, so I started backing off and short shifting to get it to the finish. With 3 laps to go the damn fuel light came on again , so I was forced to pit again for a splash and dash. Off I went again, just behind Evo (I think) again, so I thought "sprint to the finish here, could be interesting" . Would you believe it, that damn fuel light came on again :eek: so I started short shifting like hell and drifted over the line totally empty.

So finished an adventurous P6 I think (or was that P4, who cares).

Grats to whoever won, I couldn't tell with some fun and games over the line. So I just congratulate the podium, Kevin, Peter, and Szilard.

Thanks again to all who raced. :thumb:

This was again a new experience, in Qul. get not under 2.20 so that was not fast enough 12 on the grid but before me an empty place that give me a good start first corner some hassle I get past 2 guys and I was 8 but the guys behind me ware faster and get me one by one so I make it my own race get some hassle with Vick his car give him some trouble, lap 20 I go in for fuel and fresh rear tires was in 7"t spot now and finished 7 not good ,not bad.
Nice race fun to do up to the next one???

Hans
