Is the GT Legends lobby / server down?

during the last two days i try to connect online to the gtl server and it says that it cannot connect. a friend who lives in my country couldn't connect to the server either. is it only a local problem or do you have the same problem too?

Have no update on the matter yet unfortunately. No clue why it takes so long to change a server.

Bram - just for your ref, we had a fully OK event going direct to the server tonight.

If the lobby's still down, we should be OK.

We've got another event Tuesday for an extra test.

I wouldn't hold your breath for the changeover if it hasn't happened yet. The domain expired on the 4th of July and unless they can get the previous owner to transfer the domain to them, there's a 45-75 day waiting period before the domain can be bought (assuming the process hasn't changed recently). Even then they're not guaranteed to get it.

The first bit is there to protect the registrant (i.e. 10tacle) so that the domain name doesn't get stolen by someone else if they forget or are temporarily unable to renew the domain.
Then I think a lot of registrars put up adverts on the domain name for a period to see whether they make more money out of advert clicks than the domain is worth, then decide whether to drop the domain, auction it or keep it to make moneys from adverts

I am starting to doubt that the lobby will ever get up. Obviously they let the lobby domain http://www.gtl-server.net/ expire and it's now in the hands of godaddy.

Ramon said that they either have to buy it back (how much godaddy ripper?) or that they have to patch the game in order to make it work again

I've been thinking the same myself recently.

The good news however is that the direct connection stuff is pretty solid.

If we keep using it, it'll become second nature soon, and be just as usable.

I have just been on the lobby and it worked.
I will run some more tests with our RD server and try to connect.

If it works we might have a temporary solution for the expired domain name

Anyone in need of a fix? RaceDepartment.com is now the only server visible in the GTL Lobby

Have you installed / run the latest lobby fix as described here:

It allows you to access the lobby normally, provided the server also has the fix installed.
