Is GTR2 still worth it?

Hi guys, sorry for this recurrent question.
I've just bought Asseto Corsa, but I would like some fun and opponents IA now and not in 1 or 2 years. GTR2 is up to 2 Jan 1.79 euros at steam. Is it worth investing some time there? I saw another topic with recommended mods, My question is therefore more: considering I have three screens 2xGTX670 in SLI and ideally compatibility with 3D is a must, Which other sims out there (do not mention Project CARS as it is unavailable and unfinished) should I consider in the GT kind of cars?

Many thanks in advance.

What have you got to lose?its so cheap now. I like the physics and ai disappointing that Porsches are grey due to the licensing issues. Braking distances seem a lot more than asset to corsa but i out this on the other day as impatient for ac ai emerge. Better physics than race 07 but you can get that , gtr 2 and all the old sim bin games in steam for a bargain.go for it

As far as i know GT Legends wil run in 3D also and you get to race online in RD as we run regular events.

Both GTR2 and GTL will work in triple screen but watch the resolution in GTR2 (5760x 1080 can be unstable at times 4800x900 is solid)

GTR 2 had a driving school which has yet to be beaten. 100's of mods and track bang for buck you cant beat it
there are also loads of tricks you can use to get the best out of the game,
but it is no AC it will feel different,
but you also get to use PnG V3 (GTL x2)

Race 07 had also GT cars and has good regular events on RD loads of mods and tracks (GTR Evolution)
Rfactor has all the cars you could wish for with mods (but still not as cheap as the simbin deals on steam)

And don't worry about the greyed out cars in GTR2 just do a google search and you will get the answers to get them in game, patch and update..

hope this helps and not confuses...

A long time ago i did try the Nvidia 3D and after 3 or 4 hours of driving i was still getting used to it.
I do remember it gave a greater feeling of speed to any sim, and a greater depth perception.
I tried it on a big single screen setup, then on a triple,
I always said to myself i would like to try it again one day..
the same with the head tracking,
they seem to bring a new bit of life into a older sim,
can only imagine what a new sim feel like with its up to date graphics...

maybe something for the future...
But first id like a new motherboard for SLI and slip in another Titan ( hey, we can all dream):sleep::sleep::sleep:
But one day ill get there and then the 3D..

Rupe Wilson, that's based on my experience but 3D surround is great for Max Payne 3, maybe Hitman absolution (I've just started it), FSX, Falcon 4 BMS, DCS and ...GTR2 and that's basically it.
Due to a shadow effect on new games or the fact that convergence is locked or both it is not convenient for me for most of the others games/sims: F1 2012 acceptable but I prefer without, Asseto Corsa: horrible in 3D surround; RBR modded: acceptable but I prefer without, same for Crysis2, BFBC2, BF3
TrackIR 5 is great particularly with one screen for racing sims, with 3 screens your are not going to miss it so much if you forget to switch it on.

My suggestion is race injection, has better graphics and you will have the fia gt cars from gtr2 bonus, It has many many cars(zonda -formula1-bmwcsl-bmw m3 gt2,corvette,wtcc,caterham,rsr,mini, etc),the best so far multiplayer which is still active and compatibillity with triple screen .I thnink it is the best sim ever until asseto and raceroom experience launch their multiplayer sessions. If you buy it go to http://www.weissbierbude.de/ for more cars and tracks but i am afraid that you will need all your life time.

GTR2 will always be on my HD for these reasons:
1) FFB is still awesome
2) You can save offline races mid season, so you can run a no-compromise 3 hour race for the ultimate in realism.
3) Real track is still unparalleled
4) Plenty of mods available (my two favorites are the BPR mod and the SpeedGT mod)
