Following the end of EA Sports exclusive license to represent the Porsche brand in digital gaming, iRacing have quickly jumped on the bandwagon and secured the rights to bring the famous German brand to their online only racing simulation in 2017.

Kevin Bobbitt, Director of Marketing and Communications for iRacing.com had the following to say following the recent announcement:

“This is great news for iRacing and for the 65,000 iRacers around the world,”
“Porsche’s success in sports car racing is without parallel, from Le Mans and the Nürburging to Daytona and Sebring. Porsche is the ideal partner for iRacing as we continue developing our sports car and endurance sim racing capabilities.”
Check out the iRacing Porsche Announcement Trailer below:
Joining Assetto Corsa in the list of modern simulations to secure the rights for bringing the Porsche brand to a bona fide simulation title, iRacing have confirmed the 2017 spec 911 GT3 Cup car is due to be released in the very near future in a first of several new vehicles due to hit the title. Further models will be revealed by the studio as the year progresses, however if the release preview trailer is anything to go by, players of iRacing look to have a very interesting few months ahead of them as 2017 kicks off with a bang.

iRacing is an online only racing simulation available exclusive to PC. Subscription on a year basis to the service, with additional costs for content apply. A base vehicle and track set are available as part of the standard package.

iRacing has its very own sub forum here at RaceDepartment, a place where you can go and discuss the simulation with your fellow iRacing enthusiasts and share your own custom made setups for the range of vehicles within the sim. Head over to our sub forum now and take part in the discussion.

Are you happy to see Porsche make its debut in iRacing? Are you pleased to see the German manufacturer have spread their wings across other simulations? Do you think the sim will do justice to the manufacturer? Let us know in the comments section below!

Well to be honest AC is fun for cruising in normal cars, but race cars in AC does simply not feel as connected to the road compared to iRacing and that for me made the real difference. For instance, you can feel all 4 wheels individually from the wheel which is nice and the complexity of the handling is much greater. Also the grip levels are far more superior to the AC grip levels which feels linear and scetchy most of the time, in other words grip levels are like a on off switch at times...
Sounds like you are playing a game of mismatch here. Honestly, even if I knew you in person and you were serious, I would still think you are trolling, but I respect your opinion nonetheless.

You get what you pay for, nothing matches iRacing physics...

Who cares? Why does every other thread on here eventually be about how bad someone thinks the physics of simulation X, and how much better the physics of simulation Y you like are? No one cares. Play whatever you like and stop caring so much about games you don't like. This news post is about a new licence in iRacing, not the physics of other titles. Talk about how it compares in its own thread, and when you can drive the cars back to back.

it's goin to be interesting to see real life drivers of the 911 gt3 join the grid. yesterday i was on a gt3 server with nicki thiim, the other week i was passed on track by frank biela (always supposing it is not some dude playing under their name).
Nicki Thiim is the real one. Few months ago I "met" him during early morning GT3 practice session. We were only 3 and he provided some advices on set up (and whatever iracing physics are compared to AC, such thing can happen in I racing only ;) ) . In last June he also posted on his fb page screenshot of le Mans track. I assume he could get it in advance to train before real 24hrs.

I've regretted buying the RUF's in iRacing, don't like how they drive at all. But I've had quite a bit of fun with the Porsche packs in AC and the cup car was no exception. This is not to say I dislike how iRacing drives at all, I quite like how most cars handle in it, but it will be a tough choice to buy the Porsche or not, guess I'll wait to see what the participation, season tracks and license before I commit to it.

Off topic I know (sorry) but I hope this means we get a chance to see Porsche licenced for RaceRoom now, at last getting them for the ADAC field and bringing us closer to a full grid of proper cars...

I'm not an iRacing player anymore, but good for them to get this deal and as someone said above, the more who secure the licence the merrier.

Yes good analysis I think too, but for the same reasons RF2 is better iracing, but not for the online ...

I do like both sims, just giving my opinion/analysis on why I think the sim in question is better than the other. The reason was that someone talked about how much cheaper AC is compared to iRacing so I had do step in and justify that reason, why must you complain about my opinion, stop feeling so hurt by my honesty, really...

Ok everyone made their point.

Bottom line:

Porsche is coming, cars are coming, iRacing classes are being remoddeled and newly made. AC does good with their Porsches so I believe will iRacing.

In the end everyone wins. Right? RIGHT?!

The RUFs are just bad. Never was a fan. The C-Spec was bearable but no more. The streets versions could be ok, but iR clearly didn't care about them because the tyres on them make no sense, far too grippy and a bit weird feeling.

Pfff, best sim has always been Shift 2 Unleashed:cool:

I don't get all the comparisons. Guess what?
One of the major sims for us to choose from was able to get a license from one of the most legendary brands!
Great news, end of discussion:)

This are very good news! Even when im not playing iRacing anymore its good to see this brand in the kind of game´s/sims that should be.

This kind of reply derail the thread... please lets try to be gentle.

I could make a big reply but i dont think u ll be able to take my pov, clearly u already know alot about Racing Simulators, 3D modeling topology, sounds, physics and pricing strategies.
