Casino De Monte Carlo Grand Prix
Circuit de Monaco is laid out on the city streets of Monte Carlo and La Condamine around the harbor of the principality of Monaco. It is commonly referred to as "Monte Carlo" because it is largely inside the Monte Carlo neighborhood of Monaco. The idea for a Grand Prix came from Antony Noghes, the president of the Monegasque Motro Club and close friend of the ruling family. The inaugural race was held in 1929 and was won by William Grover-Williams in a Bugatti. To date, only three local drivers have won a race at the Circuit. Louis Chiron did it at the 1931 Monaco Grand Prix; 82 years later, Stefano Coletti crossed the line in first position at the sprint race of the 2013 Monaco GP2 race. The third driver to do so was Stephane Richelmi at the 2014 Monaco GP2 event.
NOTE: Each driver must use both Primary (black) and Alternate (red banded) for at least one green flag lap.

Even though I'm sure they could not laser scan it, this magnificent strip of tarmac really pops with Project Cars. Some amazing kerbing that really slams home just how difficult this place is, like turn one, where the artificial "line" wants to throw you into the wall on your left as you turn left. Strangely, it makes the place a bit more manageable, as opposed to the dull F1 version. Yet, slower. :(. I'm so dang slow here. Like 10 seconds off the A.I.

so sad to miss this one especially, love the indycar around here, very fitting tight course. Oh well, not as fussed when I remember I get to see all the incredible PWC gt machinery racing at mosport tomorrow.
finally seeing Nissan vs Bentley battle up close!
Yeah I'm gone until Sunday so have fun guys.
There goes my point lead though :(

Nice! Practically any racing is a joy to watch. The SCCA is close to my heart, as that's who I watched growing up. And Mosport is just so special. :inlove:

Sh!t.. sorry Rob I wasn't aware these extra races had been placed in the previous off weeks, thought they had been bolted onto the end to fill some more time before AC came out.. as you know I couldn't make the Touring Car series in the off weeks so this is the same i'm afraid as I had things scheduled in for some of our off weeks.

I'll do my best to get to this one as I have never raced it in pCars so would be good to try it out at last (could be very messy though as my first attempt at the track will be our practice :O_o:) but can't guarantee i'll get there, i'll let you know as early as possible though.

Can we please make sure though that it starts on time this week... I have an early start tomorrow and a long day ahead on Sunday so don't want to be hitting the sack later than necessary.

What is the average time around here... 1:24's or so? The PC leader boards quickest is 1:19, what is it on XBO?

  7. Don't worry Nic, although myself or Eric could in theory overtake you tomorrow I can't make most of the added races so you'll have plenty of leeway over me at least. Eric and Rob however will be snapping at your heels if you slip up ;)

No prob. You can always start it if I'm not there. I can always join in practice if I'm a bit late. But I'll need all the practice I can get here. This track is much harder on pCARS than in F1. Feels better, though. And you probably already know it well, so you will have an advantage.
  9. If only... I last raced Monaco in 2013 I believe as I was in Egypt when it was raced in the 2014 season and have not been to it in F1 2015 at all.
  10. Well I managed to get in a little familiarisation session tonight. The track is very well done but boy are these cars fragile  Any little contact causes damage.. the pits are going to be very busy that's for sure.

Initially couldn't get the car turning around that hairpin but a few changes to the setup, specifically the caster and camber got that sorted and also had to dial out some real bad corner exit oversteer which I think I've now managed. Big problem though was getting the primary tyres switched on... that's a real struggle and not sure I've managed it so I may just run a single lap on those if I find I'm still struggling. Anyone else find the same?

What lap times are you guys getting? Not that pace will be the most important thing here.. whoever keeps it out if the barriers best will surely come out on top.

I'm running a 1:31. So you should lap me by lap 10 or so. I'm used to the ease of F1 and this is not easy. Strangely, though, it's not as scary, but I still have a fragile car. It's not the front wing so much as everything else. The only saving grace might be that you don't *have* to pit if you make contact, since you are likely just slower and not crippled, unable to turn. Still, it's hard to get a clean lap, which is why I'm like a snail around here. The vision is better, but that almost seems to make me more careful. I'm just going to try and bang out a few laps now and see if I get used to it. I changed the steering ratio and camber also, but springs, aero and brake pressure too. Do you ever use P2P? lol.
  12. I also changed the caster, sway bars and went for max downforce too. Without the caster and camber changes I couldn't get round the hairpin without bouncing off the wall.

I use p2p on the exit of the Portier before the tunnel and up the hill at Beau Rivage to Massinet and Casino at the start of the lap.

The only reason I didn't change camber is because it shouldn't be that effective at such low speed. Then again, that's real world. :O_o:. Caster I would have thought higher would be better since a shopping cart turns quicker than a go cart, but maybe I have that backwards. I use P2P and hope I can stop. lol. Surprisingly, the primes are almost as good as the alternates, but you really have to heat them both up. Primes last a lot longer though. Not that I will.

These cars really are not designed well for here. Even less than F1 cars. Makes me appreciate them going from city street to road course to high speed oval (although a different car, really) even more.
  14. I really struggled on the primes hence why I may get rid of them after a lap or two if I find the same tonight. I could not get round the hairpin with them on the first two laps but am hoping once they heat up they may improve.
  15. I was running 1:24's in practice with one stints worth of fuel and 1:22 in TT. As I said yesterday though pace will not dictate the winner here, control and keeping away from the barriers will.

These cars are much more fragile than their F1 counterparts, almost every little contact caused some sort of suspension damage resulting in iffy steering which of course around here just increases the chance of further contact.

You mean more fragile that Codemasters? I assume so. Hard to really say IRL since they don't go here, but the game sure does make them a bit frail. I got down to where you are in practice, but as you say, that was often short lived. A big problem was the A.I. pushing my slow ass into the wall. They would tag me just hard enough to upset the turn in and I lost control. I don't think we can afford to run them here. But as always, Monaco is a crap shoot, and my secret strategy is to go slow and engage in a tire war.

The biggest problem I have with the hairpin (Eric also) is the magnetic lock that the software dishes out when you soft lock a car. Since these have a relatively short lock, I hit it routinely at Lowes. Interestingly, if I make the right apex, I can take it no problem, and it's not even close, but if I take kerb or hit that awful lock, it's a struggle.

  18. I only ran a solo practice session as my time was limited and I needed to maximise it with no AI interruptions.

On tyres it is only a one stopper but I would be surprised if anyone doesn't have to do extra stops for damage.
  19. I got that on the primary as I had to virtually stop to try to get round and that's when it kicks in for me. On the alternates it was ok as I could get round smoothly.

It's certainly a nasty bug and tbh if it happens too frequently tonight I'll be abandoning the race ads I'm not putting my wheel under that stress.
  20. shudnt this have started by now.
