FM4 Idea for mini-cup - Tinkerer's delight - Classic touring cars

Forza Motorsport 4 (Turn 10 Studios)
Hi Guys, wanted to propose a little mini cup and gauge response. Maybe three or so races in successive weeks (we wouldn't clash dates with the Clio Championship). Classic touring cars such as '91 M3, 190E, and any other from similar era that people suggest. Upgrades are to R3 because, let's face it, we're basically emulating those guys that build up a race car from stock and tuning would be allowed. I'd be happy to set up the points and tables and admin stuff if someone could help me out with hosting the actual events. We could either run longer 20 lap races or two heats of 10 laps with reverse grid for 2nd race (two races a night might be good for points as it will be a short cup). If there's enough interest I can get cracking on getting this running quickly so we could even try to get this scheduled in before xmas.

Let me know what you think, or let me know if I'm mad...

Right so what I'm thinking is this... (Initially) A 3 event Cup series with races at Nurburgring, Catalunya, and Silverstone GP circuits. Each event consists of 2 x 10 lap races, with the second race being a reverse grid of the 1st race's result and each race will be awarded its own points. All upgrades and tuning will be allowed up to a maximum of A600. My view is to run this on Monday nights so we don't conflict with the Clio Championship, and also because there's usually nothing good going on on Monday nights (outside of RD club racing of course!).

I think we should have a vote on whether or not we want to race with damage as a first corner incident can make for no fun for people who are totally innocent.

What does' everyone think?

Sounds pretty good Tom.

We are in RD comunity and all of us had read the rules. It's obvious that we all must have extra care at first corners and first laps at each race, nothing new here. Acidents can happen and if they happen we have to pay for it. let's try to keep it more close as possible to a SIM please. As a racing drivers (virtual ofcourse), we must preserve the car's health and that takes part of the immersion of racing.
If we run without damage, it can lead to a less careful behavior because we know that nothing severe will happen to the car.

Cheers

I'm inclined to agree with you Paulo but if the majority prefer without damage I just want to get this thing off the ground and have some fun with (hopefully) a good number of participants. ;)

Re: damage on. I'm ok with that.

Touring cars always has had a little bump'n'grind. Start with it ON/FULL but if it destroys races consider changing it to limited ...?

I agree. Also after last night's Clio race it was well demonstrated that if you just have a bit of friendly but competitive bump and grind it won't damage your critical systems and mostly affects your body panels. This would be fine. I think it might be time to go ahead and set some dates and post a sign-up thread. Is everybody happy to do three consecutive Monday nights? How would the 5th, 12th, and 19th of December sound?

MODs- where should I post the sign-up thread, in the Racing Club section or the League section or under the general Forza 4 section?

I think damage should be on.

Tom, can you sign me up, when you do the signup post, Number 39, not sure on colours or car yet.
Also Tom, if you want me to host, let me know.
