PC2 I want *REAL RACING*

Well, public racing is a disgrace. This is no secret.

I want to join a league where all drivers:

- Know the track;
- Know the general handling of the class they're driving;
- Respect Blue Flags;
- Don't race hotlapers when they just came out of the pit in quali;
- Flash their lights when they're coming in with a faster class;
- Use their freaking mirrors (yes, most sim "racers" don't even use their mirrors in a RACING environment)

Seriously, Spa and Monza have been on simulators for how many decades? And people still pile-up on the first corner because they have no idea of where the braking points are.

Sim "racers" should do an exam before being allowed to go online where they prove they have basic knowledge of racing so they don't ruin other people's ranks ;)

I'm above average on my skills. I hold the 4th best time (Time Trials) at Spa with the C7R; 2nd place on Silverstone with the AMG GT3; 3rd on Donington with the AMG GT3; and my goal is to be Top 3 on all GT3-GTE cars soon.

My favorite track is the Nordschleife, so I'm not afraid of challenges. I love racing on it at night and/or rain (or on any track, for that matter). Here's me driving on it:

Here's me at Spa:

I don't mind slower or faster drivers, as long as everybody plays by the rules. I don't care if you lap me, just be gentle enough not to dive-bomb at corners just because you're in a LMP1 car and think everybody should put a red carpet so you can go through. Flash your lights, and as soon as I deem safe, I'll let you pass with no problem. Do NOT try to overtake me at e.g. Eau Rouge or the last few fast corners at Nordschleife.

I live in Brazil (GMT -3) and so pings for US servers are ~150ms and ~200-250ms for Europe, something which doesn't affect racing in simulators where the net code is good.

If you have a league with slots open, please let me join.

Cheers,
Toquinha

You're not getting anywhere near a serious league with a ping that high, dude. I think you'd be better off trying to find something in South America

I just joined an European league.

My ping is fine, it never caused a problem in race. Anything above that and I could agree that it would be a problem.

I know this post was a while ago but yes some leagues (like VEC for example) require you to do the support races to kind of gain a licence. I can't remember all the details but you can't just "jump" into a LMP1 car without proving yourself in other classes first. Which in all fairness is a good idea. Just depends on whether you are willing to do a season of a slower car first before moving up.

Just recently, people are only being accepted into leagues on RaceDepartment if they have taken part in a certain number of events.

I share your pain though, I used to race loads of times on Raceroom on open servers and had many good races but as the free version of the game became more popular the races were more and more crazy. Tried just after Christmas (lots of people on holiday, lots of full servers) again, had some good races and some not so good (people not being careful into turn one, etc.)

I also agree that sometimes in multiclass some racers just expect you "to disappear" when they are lapping you rather than wait for a gap. They then moan like crazy because you didn't stop for them in the middle of a six gear corner! :rolleyes: This isn't on here BTW.

In contrast the races on RD are on the whole very good. If you want something relaxed, stick to the club events.

If you want to get serious then obviously the leagues are your thing, however RD tends to attract very fast specialists from all over the world and as I'm just a casual racer you do feel like you are racing in a bus when everyone else is in car. :laugh::)

As someone already said, as long it is constant, up to 250ms is ok.

The problem is like one I faced today, when you race at the front of the grid and the difference between you and the second and third is just a few tenths, you have to be careful with those who don’t know how to race, aka try to divebomb you into T3 or T4 at laguna seca. When you’re driving real fast and the difference is nothing, you can’t just expect to see some stupid newbie behavior. You have to be patient, wait for the opportunity or create one by forcing a mistake, not just doing crazy **** stuff.

Anyway, I had some good racing a couple of years ago with RD guys. Also raced some guys in NA while living in Brazil and it was just awesome.
