F1 2011 How do i modify damage only?

Hi Guys,
I know there are damage mods in the Mods thread,i just want to know how to do it myself.
Do i use notepad or word and how do i back up original file?
Help appreciated so i can delete this thread.

Use FergoBinXML to convert the file(s) to text first. Then you can change the settings with notepad and convert it back to XML and place it back in the folder. A backup is just a copy of your original file, so just copy the file you are going to edit BEFORE you start editting. If you have the diskspace for it just backup your whole F1 game directory, in that way you have everything original in case stuff goes wrong
