    All, we have something quite different to try out this week. For the past few weeks, @Stuart Thomson has had his head under the bonnet of the HistorX mod (hence his sporadic - at best - attendance record that some of you might have noticed), and we are going to be testing out the fruits of his labour this week. He has created 3 "new" cars (with the possibility of a couple more to come) to pad out, or give more options to, some of the GTTC classes.

    It started with an idea he had of dropping the relatively punchy Lotus Cortina engine into the Escort RS2000 body to create a "pseudo-Mexico". In testing, it became apparent that the Mexico, lightened from the RS2000 mass but still with those relatively wide and sticky tyres, was actually a pretty good rival for the sole B0-class 914, albeit setting its times in quite a different way. To that end, he looked where else natural competitors were a little scarce and targeted those areas.

    Continuing on that same blueprint - a more powerful chassis, a less powerful engine, to create an admittedly inaccurate, but gap-filling vehicle - he has dropped an Alpine 1600 engine into a Porsche 911S 2.0 body to create a Porsche-esque 911E ('68), and a Lotus Elite engine into the TVR Griffith 400 to create a TVR Grantura-alike ('64). The Grantura should be another car to add to the Alpine 1100 + Lotus Elite class, while the Porsche should weigh in around the Simca Gr2 / Rallye 3 / Gordini Gr2 sort of performance.

    To test these new cars out and give everyone a load of space to get used to the new handling characteristics, we're going to be using a familiar, and wide with generous tarmac runoff areas, track - the default ISI Northamptonshire track, in it's middle length "British rF3 Championship" layout...also known as Silverstone International.

    The download consists of all 3 cars, and multiple liveries within those cars, both default (created from the actual manufacturers colour cards) and custom user skins, based on the ones he has been doing for the other lower powered and Sprint class cars.

    Not that we are anticipating any problems, but there's always a chance something might sneak through that wasn't picked up in testing, so please let us know if you find anything of note.

    To install, extract the zip file into your rFactor root folder.

    Many, many thanks to the HistorX mod team for their gracious permission to allow us to do this.

    Sign me up please @Denis Betty. Denis, I assume if one has the full install of rFactor1 then the track download is not necessary. Thanks to @Stuart Thomson for the Test Cars download.

    Gents
    If you already have the track, you shouldn't need to download it. Just be sure to pop onto the server and test in plenty of time to avoid any last minute panics. :thumbsup:

    @Victor Jimenez ,@Allan Ramsbottom ,@Stuart Thomson ,@Hans Sneep ,@T_rac3
    Roland has found a possible fix to the lagging/warping/disco issues of recent weeks. Would everybody please go (in game) to Settings > Multiplayer. Under "Network Settings", please set CONNECTION TYPE to Cable/DSL 128K Up. Your Upload Rating & Download Rating will then read 128 kbps. We need everybody on the server to use these settings. It will, hopefully, be less likely to cause issues for the server... fingers crossed.
    I will post about this on the Social Message thread, so that everybody knows what to do.
    Thanks.

    I know we used to have to do this for GTL, but this is first time I've heard of it for rF. Makes perfect sense of course, seeing as how the engine guts are pretty similar.

    Nicely done @Roland :thumbsup:
