High powered DD wheels unrealistic?

I'm watching WTCR and Matt Neil is saying it's amazing how you can drive a modern car with just your fingertips and it's nothing like the older cars were you were wrestling the car. I'm assuming GT3 cars are the same (probably fly by wire steering).

What's the point of buying something with 20nm if real life drivers are using low resistance in their actual steering?

Is it just detail resolution in the FFB that benefits from stronger wheels?

1. being able to replicate forces of older cars, vehicles without power steering or ones with high forces (much funner vehicles imo)
2. having enough torque budget for effects AND solid softlock/end stops
3. simracing wheels have to convey info real car wheels don't since real cars provide tactile input from their motion

More torque, faster acceleration, which translates to more responsive and detailed wheel.
Doesn't mean you will be driving constantly at 25Nm sustained torque resistance, but will have headroom to avoid signal clipping on jolts, kerbs, etc.
