My name is Brian and I'm 56 and I am new to all this.

I have just built or should say purchased the parts for a gaming PC and my some did the easy bit ;) and put it together and installed all the software and assetto corsa with packs 1& 2.

I am hoping to find a Club/group that caters for a novice :).

    Welcome to RD mate. :)
First of all, here at RaceDepartment, there are all kinds of club and league events being organised. If you're new, the club events might actually be the best place to start, as others tend to offer advice there and the whole atmosphere is more informal.
Have a look into this thread m8.

    And for AC this one.

Check out the "Events" page for dates and times:

Read your links  and as you can see joined up.

I have just spent all week setting everything up PC/AC and Teamspeak so have had a go today on line on the club track at Nordschleife and i'm absolutely gob smacked what a fantastic game well worth the money spent, although my driving leaves a lot to be desired .

All I need to do apart from plenty of track time is to get my head around customising/setting up the cars.

    :):):):):):):)
    A happy bunny...

Don't ever feel that speed and skill are required to join our events. We welcome all and find those that make the step early into online racing develop quickly. As long as your driving attitude is right and you can be safe around others that's all thats needed, the rest will come in time :) If there's anything you need to know be sure to post in the forums and most guys around will be happy to provide you with help and answers more informally on Teamspeak during events.

We're looking to get rolling with some more development events too in the near future where some of the basics about the games, techniques etc are covered. You can keep an eye on the Premium Members forum (Paddock Club) for more info on that. There's a poll up at the minute for which game to use for the next one so be sure to make your vote ;) http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/poll-premium-driver-academy-resumes-in-december.110473/

This is pretty much what have applied to myself too, except I have yet to build the speed to fight in the top, even after years of pratice. For me it is all about going on the circuit with others, have fun and enjoy the driving and the friendly atmosphere on and off the track. This is definately a place for that :)
