Help with Sky.mas

Discussion in 'Bob's Track Builder' started by Brad Dibble, Aug 16, 2010.

  1. I'm looking for some help with editing the sky.mas horizon images. I have edited the horizon images from the rFactor sky.mas file from BTB pro, and saved them as DDS files with alpha, and put them back into the sky.mas file, however the edited images are not rendered correctly, the results vary but the image is either not displayed at all or is combimed with some other seemingly random image.

    How should I be saving the .DDS file?
  2. Sounds odd, maybe try replacing your sky.mas with a stock sky .mas from rfactor and replace each horizon image one at a time to see if it's the way you saved them?
  3. the original sky.mas file works fine same with others edited by other people, only the ones I edit don't work. I assume its how I'm saving them that is the problem.
  4. Have you tried leaving the "sky.mas" as-is and just copying your dds files to the track folder? Your images must be EXACTLY the same file name, type, resolution, etc. as those in "sky.mas" and they will then be properly displayed in-game instead of the original "bka","bkb", etc.

    Good luck!
  5. There are 6 different DDS files that make up the horizon.
    But there are 16 panels to fill.
    The sequence goes like this 3,4,1,2,3,4,5,6,3,4,1,2,3,4,5,6
    1=BK01 2=BK02 etc..
    So that means that BK04 must be seamless with BK01 on the right side but also with BK05 & so on if you get my drift.
    I found it simpler to have all my horizon joins at the same height all the way through.
  6. Thanks Eric & gwaklock!
