F1 2012 Helmet models for Photoshop

Firstly I must apologise for not getting this exactly how I wanted it to be.

But in theory, you shouldn''t be able to get hold of the helmet model in this years game at all....although I have tried.

In the download we have both helmets with and without rear fin.

Both include wireframes aswell.

I have left my little logo on the template....so if you use the model at all I would be appreciated if you leave it there (many thanks).

I only wish I could have done it a little better, but I will keep trying, and if I can improve the model at all.....I will update the download file.

So this is the best I can offer for now.....

I keep trying to save the new file in bespoke helmets (over writing selected file) but I keep getting an error message, any ideas please?

First you will need Photoshop CS4 or higher.

If you do not have this, the 3D model will not work for you.

You can either paint directly onto the 3D model, or onto the 2D DDS file to create your helmet.

If you take a look at this video for the cars, it's basically the exact same principal.

Hey ML, thanks for the template! It's very useful.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but my custom helmet looks too bright ingame. Do you know why does this happen?

They tend to do that.

Either use slightly darker colours, or lower the gamma in game.

It seems something related to player's helmet lights in game...
I checked now and the visor is too bright in default helmet too.

The same happens using dödel's helmet

Use 3D tools to rotate it (I think the shortcut is K) and double click the texture name in layer's panel to get to work on it.

I've got CS5, and same problem too. I got a Rasterize 3D layer message, then click Ok, and load the 2D helmet. Last year it worked for me same CS5, but now nothing.
