Have Your Say: What Would You Like to See as the New ISI Racing Game IP?

@Matt Orr I think it's Indy or Nascaww, and if it's Indy I think they'd have to relicense the historic material, unless they threw a changeball on us and took it away from the rF2 licenses.

I have a feeling Indy as a whole is flexible enough at this moment given they appear just about everywhere and seem to be willing to play ball. It'd be mutually beneficial at this point as well, both ISI and IndyCar could really benefit from a quality IndyCar focused title.

True that, they are kid of desperate for attention, especially from younger people, best moment to license indycars :D

Somewhat unrelated : I truly believe there is a link between racing in the real world and video games from a popularity standpoint. Not a coincidence NASCAR boomed under the glorious Heat and Thunder series, and F1 has gone through a hole somewhere after the EA games and the Codemasters stuff where it was Sony exclusive...

Good video games get people interested more in the series!

That could help for sure. In Indycar case if they managed to get a oval experience like NR2003 AI would be pretty awesome, the position changes when you find the difficulty setting that fits your skills were tense as hell, I loved when my tires were a bit gone and the whole wave of AI got around me :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: racing the full 500 miles at Charlotte was amazing
if they got that same feeling in a IndyCar game would be very nice and I believe would get some people to watch it.
You do need a very good assist system for people racing on joysticks tho, especially to keep it side by side on ovals

A GT-like car porn/collector game with accurate physics and great eye candy. That would rock. But fun and pretty in a sim is a sin for the racing crowd.

With their content creating staff leaving, they are unable to create again a project as big as rF2 was. By that, they have to reduce the amount of work they'll put in their next IP.

They tinkered with Indycar an Nascar licenses in the past. They had contact, and had contract to them. It can be developed with their existing technologies. Only fine tuning and refining eyecandy is needed. And most importantly, it can be done in 1-2 years of development in ISI-time :D.

I think they will create a properly sealed, fine-tuned 1 series piece of software. Just like old times.
If they choose the right series, people will open their wallets.

perhaps isi can make 64 bit exe for rf1 and directx10 and call it rf3 that would be quite better than
rf2 -> because useless for modding ( much too complicated)

as cars I would luv to see some gr.5 and silhouette cars like imsa

Content creation can be outsourced, so I wouldn't break my head about that aspect. It's a common practice.

My guess, as it is in no direct competition with rF2:
-a closed game, so no modding
-loose surface stuff, as that is not a thing in rF2 and could still be added to rF2 afterwards
-on the other hand, a fully fleshed Indycar title would be pretty damn awesome, with all cars and tracks and maybe the Mazda - Road To Indy content inclduded (that's more wishfull thinking though)

Not a direct competitor seems to rule out many of the options discussed (we have start of Indycar and NASCAR already)
My guesses:
Motobike sim (MotoGP or similar)
Speedboat Racing

Wild guess - sailing sim
