Had to drop out of Race 2 - had a really long day at work and couldn't keep my concentration, would have just caused an accident if i continued. Thanks for a great event though, i really enjoyed the mixture of cars we had.

WD to all Podium finishers!

Thanks for two good races tonight.

In the first race I was in the 914-6 which was a lot of fun. I started adjusted the setup a bit to suit my driving. In practice and qualy all was well and had a good time in the car. The race started good too, but after a few laps the 914 became a twitchy animal. I guess thats what I get for tuning a setup on cold tires:) From now on the car span me round like record. It all ended up in a very neat summersault. How many points do I get for this one Stuart?

The second race was in the Escort. Practice and qualy was not enough to get me used to this car which was very different to the Porsche. Quite fun though! In the race I was involved in an accident that made me spin in the hairpin. I got some minor damage on the car which made the car even more fun! Had some good fun for the following laps. But I managed to crash the car even more:) At this point the car was ridiculous to drive and put a grin on my face. Had some good laps with Stuart though, even though my car was a bit sketchy.

I really like mixed-car events and this was a good one. Thanks for this series Stuart, looking forward to the next one!

First race-night on GTL for me and I had the time of my life.

Q: 6th first race and 5th in the second.

Race 1: what can I say, I didn't make it to the grid. My first newbe error, didn't know you only had 30 sec to get there. Been playing the Race 07 series up till now and that gives 2mins to get things sorted for the race. Oh well you live and learn.

Race 2: Was ready this time and made a grt start and managed to get third by T2. This didn't last to long as I had a recovering Sam on my tail. Duly give him room though the chicane as he had the inside line and started to follow him, boy he's fast. While watching the front pair duking it out and Sam looking to join in I settle down and try to put clean laps in. As the laps go by I then find myself in 3rd, I think Sam pulled out. Another few laps go by and Carlos spins at T3 and I'm upto 2nd. This only lasted a couple of laps before Carlos reeled me in and made the pass down the home straight. I then tried to take the fight to him but this just resulted in me over cooking it on the brakes and then finally spining at the right hander at T5. By this time I had a big enough gap back to 4th to recover and still be in 3rd place. From then on I just thought best bring it home and settle for this.

Thanks Stuart for a great nights racing, thanks to RD and thanks to all the guys that showed up, it was a plesure racing with you guys. Grts to the winners.

P.s. Now to look at getting a better setup for the next meet, where's Sam?

here's my opinion about the cars I used
beemer - very stable, easy to drive, good brakes but boring and unfortunately slow
914 - much more fun, for me faster than bmw around 1-1.5s but it's hard to be consistent during the race

In both races I had a lot of fighting with Carlos, in the first race my chase was unsuccessful but in second race I had upper hand, looking forward to try other cars in future events

All of practice was used trying to fix a problem with the BMW mod car,i ended up running a copy of my GTL put on C:\ drive,it didnt solve the problem but made GTL now run terrible and full of lag like ive never seen before.....at the start everything disappeared, scary new sensation for me,i sheepishly made way over tight to the pitwall rightside of track and backed off, thankfully when everything reappeared i was safely plumb at the back, pootled around in a horrible fps lagmare passing things that had spun or involved in incidents.
Race 2 and more messing around trying to choose something other than the BMW mod car,the only solution was deleting that car, chose a Skyline but arrived in the server in a 911S mod car :),spun it in qual due to giggling at DC having a spin (irony is beautiful) to start down near the back,it was going ok for a bit, then the 911 spins started and some chicane cuts too, didnt know it gave me a penalty so ended up DQ....the game done me a favour tbh,a miserable time overall for me :(.

Thank You Stu and RD

I had an awesome night. It's not very often that I get to be part of the podium, much less in both races. I had a hell of a time running away from Piotr in Race1 and was able to lead a good chunk of the race until Pawel D. came and passed us both. Granted, Piotr did have the slower BMW while I had the 914, surely the reason why I was able to hold him back there.
BTW, Pawel did an amazing job! While he was qualifying, he spun out just a bit in the chicane and that made him start from somewhere near the back. He was clocking the fastest lap-times in practice and was surely going to qualy first until the chicane wipe-out. But that didn't stop him from chasing the entire grid down and getting 1st place. Well done Pawel.
I finished 2 seconds behind him in 2nd. It would have been a much bigger gap if the race had anymore laps.

In Race2 I switched places with Piotr and now it was me doing the chasing. This time I had the Escort and he had the 914. At some point I get passed by Sam who was also driving an Escort and I fall back to 3rd, but Sam wipes out soon after that and I start chasing Piotr again.
I was getting pretty close to him until I wiped out and got passed by Bob. Unfortunately for Bob, the Escort packs a mean punch in the straights, lol! So I ended up second again, but this time with a HUGE gap to Piotr who was leading.

P.S.
I will say that I spent about 5 hours on Monday testing these cars at the track. Primarily because I suck at Nurburgring (all the layouts, it's T1R that I hate), and secondly cuz I had very little seat time in the 914 and no seat time at all in the Escort. So I ended up doing over 100 laps in each car to get used to all three (2 cars, 1 track). I guess all the practice helped out a lot. Normally, I would have done horribly.

My thoughts on the cars:
914) It's easy to drive and quite forgiving, easy to be consistent with it (for me).

Escort) The complete opposite of the 914 lol! I had to spend a very long time and try many different things to get the Escort to the point where I could drive it consistently without spinning out every time I gave it throttle while in 2nd gear. But when it's finally dialed in, it's pretty good.

Thanks Stu for setting up this great FFS!

Also, Sammy tried to give me his setup in Race1, but I could never access the online files. After the "Verifying Subscription" bit, I am able to see the online file, but when I click on it nothing happens. Anyone know if there is a fix for this?
