This was a nice mod, fun car to drive but certainly a tricky customer. For me anyway, I found it hard to get used to the brakes, what little braking there was. Also, damned easy to spin the bugger.

Race 1 was a classic hare and the tortoise race. Apologies to Neil and Andreas for running a tad wide in turn 1 at the start, I was struggling to get it stopped and turned in. Looking at the replay, that caused you guys to get pushed wide. Sorry.
I had a good race with Roland for the first 5 or 6 laps, then Andreas wound his speed up and caught and passed like I was a snail. Andreas then had a spin letting me by, temporarily, but he soon zoomed past again. On the last lap, Andreas had another off letting me crawl past and hold on to the finish. Andreas was clearly the fastest driver and deserved the win. WD Roland for 3rd.

Race 2 was most eventful. I almost had another of my famous pirouette spins after the start (changing to 2nd gear  ), dropping to last. Amazingly, I weaved my way past spinning or waiting cars for the next lap or so, surprisingly slotting into 3rd. After 6 laps, I noticed my engine life in XD was glowing red and showing 15% . Oops, I remembered Rupe's warning about over revving it and how easy it is to kill the engine in these. So, I spent the remainder of the race short shifting and trying to keep the revs as low as possible. By race end it was showing 8%, dunno how much longer she would have lasted.
Grats to Neil for the win, fending off a fast finishing Knut. Looked like a great battle.

Thanks to Rupe for the event, these Escorts should be good for further races in the future.

Late as usual, but I must agree these were awesome fun. The braking required some getting used to, but other than that these are definitely the kind of cars I really like, powerful , with really awesome sound ( and a LOT of it:laugh:) that keep the driver on his/her toes all of the time.
Despite my qualy lap actually being my first timed lap in the car I got a hang of it rather quickly, but my 3rd place finish in R1 does not properly reflect my pace, but only my limited number of spins and errors compared to some.
Thanks Yves for your setup, it felt really good.

The Group 5N cars for Race 2 were quite a different breed, even more power and at least as much fun, but here my driving was far from errorless. Had a really great fun race though, with people around all of the time. Went off track a number of times, so nowhere near the podiums this time.

Thanks Rupe, for a really enjoyable evening, and yes please, keep those Escorts for some other time:thumbsup:. Grats to all podium finishers, and thanks all for racing!
