PC2 Graphics Settings

This game is a resource hog. I can run F1 2017 happily at just under 60 fps. This game dips below 24 fps in some areas and becomes totally unplayable. There are other games like RaceRoom that are free to play that can easily maintain 60fps. What is the greatest factor(s) that limit or lower frame rate?

you call me troll cause i give my opinion.
PC 2 is crap from my point of view, so it's crap for me, I'm not sure what the troll is here.

I have no problem with you not liking pc2 or anyother title, everyone has there preferences and opinions.
I am calling you a troll because every subform I visit on this form I find you spamming crap everywhere and getting most of the threads locked.

i don't see troll.
only opinion based from real fact.
other real fact : project cars 2 is under the bridge, forza 7 is over.
Turns 10 is superior at any point.

it's a shame this got derailed as i still stick PCars 2 on occasionally and I do find the jaggies to be not brilliant but worse than that the trees and the shadows are painful to my eyes.
Even on top settings i can't get the trees to look good. I know it is meant to be addressed in next patch though.
Part of me wonders whether some of these posters like Forza guy on here are actually SMS stoogies sent in to derail threads.....get them locked and distract from the core issues with PCars 2.

I would play PC1 with no AA, and I didn't mind it at all. It run beautifully. When I got the final PC2 I kept AA on because it ran really well, and looks good (don't get me wrong, it's no Forza Horizon 4 or Forza 8, amiright!?). But now in career mode there are SO MANY night races, and that's when I get a slowdown. Does AA affect that or is there a lighting setting that can be changed.

Oddly, and this was the same with PC1, when it starts to rain the framerate actually improves. Draw distance reduced? I'll have to play with that.

I agree with that. PCars2 is my go to sim of the moment. To me it has the atmosphere of GTR2 with great graphics and I feel the FFB is damn good too. Just love the light changes, the weather changes and the pitstops etc. The only thing bothering me is the AI especially on starts at most tracks. I usually only use the GT3 and GTE classes though but lately the GT1 class is great fun too.

Sorry fellas, this thread was not alerting me of any activity. I originally had a AMD athlon x4 with a GTX 660i which runs F1 2017 and PC1 decently just under 60fps. Never a stutter. Then PC2 came along and I was at 50 fps then down to 15 or 18 fps in some corners or areas of some tracks. I knew eventually that I would have to upgrade so I took the opportunity to get a Ryzen 1700 with a GTX 1070 8GB. Now I use only about 1/3rd of those resources at Ultra settings. But the latest update had changed my physics in the game. Everything snap oversteers even with a stiff rear setup. If I put it to medium stiffness, the back end goes around even in slow corners. Way too much. Now I am adjusting FFB so I can feel when it goes but I am lost about the suspension. I just want to race...

Stiffer rear will usually result in oversteer on corner exit.
My suggestion would be to switch to the base stable setup or watch Yorkie065 youtube channel as he has excellent tips and advice on every aspect of the game.
Also what tyre compound, track temp, weather condition, car track combo are you using?
There was also tweaks to the tyre compounds in patch 4.
