Good DIY aluminium profile sim rig instructions?

are there any go to/tried and tested instructions for DIY projects using aluminium profile, I've found a couple but wondered if there was a definitive design people use.

Edit: or a good premade aluminium profile rig on sale?

off course mate...this week i am collecting all bills to make a final list of parts...be patient with me and my lack of time and you will get the part list (except cpu case) ;-)

sure i can wait, i hope i can build this myself i have thrust master t300 alacantra and th8a gearshift . I hope i can find all the parts here in my country. also i find out there are different type of profiles like 40x40 lightweight and heavyweight.Which one should i prefer?

i will use 1x 34" for now , i find a shop that carry all these products but i need a part list : also if you can give me the techical drawing of the set up it will be really great

Hi,

I'm about to order a KPCR Piez RIG Expert from Motedis and i would like to mount additional swivel feets due to my not perfectly leveled floor. I'm a bit unsure though which ones to order and how they actually mount to the profiles. If anyone has knowledge and/or could point me in the right direction i'd be grateful.

My wheel and monitor is on a different surface so I only need a "half" rig. I made one out of wood and MDF a few years ago and it has served me well. I decided to replace it with one made from aluminium profile to give me more adjustability and be able to mount a transducer to it.

Thanks to the advice in this thread, I used MayCAD to design it, it was easy to use and will generate a list of parts (ignore the prices, it will be cheaper at Motedis or KJN). When I was happy with the design, I ordered the parts from KJN (BR profile, 40x40 and 40x80). The profile arrived after a few days and I built it last week. The bolts I ordered from ebay (M8x16 hex head):-

The total cost was £263.

I'm planning on adding a Buttkicker or two to the rig. What would be the best way to attach them to the rig ?

Is anyone aware of commercial 80/20 builders similar to sim-lab in US. The shipping overseas is a bit expensive.

That rig uses these angle clamps: http://www.motedis.com/shop/Slot-pr...40-with-Locking-Lever-I-Type-slot-8::666.html The clamp tightens with a M8 threaded "bolt" so the T-nut would be this one: http://www.motedis.com/shop/Slot-pr...ot-8/T-nut-guided-I-type-slot-8-M8::4219.html

Mind you, these examples are all for the "40 I-type slot 8" profile, so eventually the profile you use will determine the type of bits and bobs needed. Hope this helps.

Or should i go with 40x40 / 40x80? I want a really stiff and strong rig to support my osw in the future..

You're welcome. I don't see specific angle clamps for the 45 profile either, so sorry i can't help you there. Maybe some of the guys who used 45 profile will chime in. As for the 40 profile i used the KPCR Piez Rig Expert with the triple screen stand as a base and went from there. I customized some stuff to fit my own needs, but it's sure stiff and strong enough for me and doesn't flex at all.

EDIT: I have the Fanatec CSW V2 wheelbase so i guess the FF is a bit on the lighter side compared to the OSW, but i'm quite sure my rig could take a lot more of abuse

[I really like that type of angle clamps, that's why i could choose the 40x40... it's all about how strong the rig will be.. Actually, i'm planning a separated triple screen stand.. The design is almost finished, but i don't know wich bolts and connectors to use..
At the moment i have a G27 who use m6 bolt on both wheelbase and pedals...

Yeah, it might be a good idea to order some spare T-nuts and screws in different sizes/threads (at least M6-M8/12-18) as well as extra fastening brackets, angle clamps etc. They're not that expensive considering the big picture and handy to have around later when you want to modify and add bits and pieces. Oh, and don't forget the cup holder!

One more question: can i use different sizes/ threads (M6/M8) on the same Fastening bracket?
Or should i buy a specific fastening bracket for each sizes/threads?

I guess you could go down in size, but they're probably designed for a specific boltsize so i'd stick to that. The screw/bolt sizes for the brackets are for the most part listed on the brackets product page (at least that's the case at Motedis' webshop) and often there's also the choice to order as a package including the needed fastening hardware for the specific accessory in question.
