Good morning, I'm not sure where to put this post - but here goes....
I would like to get started in very basic modding - maybe just to change mag wheel colours on modded and original content for AC, Automobilista and rFactor 2.
I am also sure that i am not the only one that has this interest - can anyone please help with pointers?
It has to be real basic.

Re wheel color: Kunos has not been consistent in the naming or structure of the files that are used for the wheels. Modders do it in their own way. So your request is too general to get an answer, it must be car specific.

Start with making your own liveries, and you'll learn the basics of the graphics program of your choosing. There are a couple of tutorials out there to follow.

By making some skins, you'll learn:
How to use a graphics program
    How to make .dds textures
The basic naming structure of AC

You'll be able to pick it up from there

    Thanks. Appreciated.
Any tutorials you would like to recommend? It would save a lot of time to get on the right track sooner.
