Well, it turns out shifting near the optimum RPM matters rather a lot in the TT Cup.
Following on from the checks I just completed on the MX5 Cup (this post), I ran the same analysis for the Audi and wow it's a much bigger deal than in the case of the Mazda.
See pic below. On a long straight starting at the bottom end of 2nd gear, you'll lose about 4 car lengths if you shift at the redline... :confused: Even by the time you hit 6th gear you'll have lost 2 car lengths.

Yes, it's so noticeable that even just watching the kph you can see how the acceleration decrease A LOT. I always forgot to mention this fact about the audi.
