During the month of December the RaceDepartment community had the opportunity to vote for their favorite nominees and decide the winners in "Race Driver of the Year 2012" category.
From the first day that the voting opened it became clear that the public was in favor of Formula 1 Ferrari pilot Fernando Alonso. Although he didn't claim his third World Driver Championship in the pinnacle of motorsports this year his performance was impressive as some claim he drove his best Formula season to date. The Spaniard finished first with 31.7% of the votes followed by F1 colleague Kimi Raikkonen (21%) and multiple World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb in completing the award podium (8.2%).
