F1 Wheel

Discussion in 'Sim Racing Hardware' started by F1_racer_1986, Apr 15, 2015.

  1. Hi guys

    Just wanted to share my F1 wheel project with you. It took me several months to build it to the final stage. It is very carefully designed. Genuine leather grips, hand stitched. Nice look and carbon finish.

    Everything inside is modular and can be replaced. No "ugly and messy" wiring inside. All parts are soldered on PCBs to make nice and clean design.

    Specs:
    * 21x pushbuttons in total
    * 3x rotary encoders
    * 3x rotary switches (total 36 positions to use)
    * 2x shift paddles
    * 2x external leds
    * 2x toggle switches with led indicator (on/off)

    Shiftlight display: SIM Race F1 controller from SIM Display company.
    - works with SLIMaxManager software
    - adjustable brightness
    - 2x4 digits (14 segments)
    - 15 rpm leds
    - 6 marshal leds
    - gear indicator (7 segments)

    Can display a lot of car telemetry while driving (optimal shiftpoint, rpm, speed, gear, lap count, timing, temperatures,...)

    Total weight: 1152g (including quick release adapter).

    Quick release adapter compatible with Logitech Momo/G25/G27 and all Thrustmaster wheels

  10. Wow Very Impressive,

    Curious what material is the body of the wheel and grips? Also Im going to assume it was "dipped" for the CF finish ? Are you planning on selling these ? the Boards look to be production quality.

    Overall, Awesome job.

  11. Thanks. Yes Im planning to sell some of those :) The body is made from strong and hard plastic and dipped for water transfer. grips are made from the same material as body. the back cover is black aluminium.
