i was wondering if the old scoring system would change any of the championships standings with the only change being webber and button

All this being said, people race knowing that certain positions are worth certain points, so I can't put too much weight into jiggered points schemes. NASCAR people do it all the time, but its more blatant there.

the whole point when the introduced the new scoring from the old top 8 was that it was still proportional to the old system. proportionally its the same, but on paper it looks a big difference. its roughly 2.5 x the old points.

No matter what the points system it looks scary.

I prefer the current one as it allows the midfeild to get some points.

I agree. With the 1-6 system we got to the stage where the top 3 teams were so reliable the other drivers/teams could do a good job and get nothing for race after race.

Considering reliability has gotten ever better over the years it's gotten worse for the midfield. I think this will change when the engine regs change though.But eventually a motogp system might have to be considered.
