Champions Mode.
The 2012 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP features six World Champions – Kimi Räikkönen, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher. Codemasters has used this as inspiration for a new quick play feature in F1 2012 – Champions Mode. Throwing the player into the heat of the action, this scenario based game mode pits the gameragainst the six World Champions in turn in order to prove themselves to be the ultimate FORMULA ONE Champion.

Season Challenge.
A FORMULA ONE career in the space of ten races. Season Challenge sees the player start at a low ranking team and select a rival driver they think they can beat. As players beat their rival over a series of races, they will win their seat in a better car. This enables the player to work their way through the field and become a Champion, driving for one of the top teams, in ten five lap races.

Young Drivers Test.
Gamers will be introduced to the world of FORMULA ONE and learn the nuances of how to drive a FORMULA ONE car by taking part in the all-new Young Drivers Test at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina. Taking inspiration of the real world event where young drivers set out to earn a drive in FORMULA ONE, players will take to the wheel of a Red Bull, Ferrari or McLaren and will complete tutorials to learn how to get the best out of their car, including how and when to use KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and DRS (Drag Reduction System).

Localised Weather.
Codemasters’ FORMULA ONE series has set the standard for weather in racing games and players will be able to experience new enhancements that will raise the bar further in F1 2012. Advances in the weather system will combine with the next evolution of F1 2012’s Active Track Technology to produce localised rain showers on certain areas of the circuit. When one part of the track is wet while other areas are dry, the race will become more unpredictable and dramatic as players make game-changing strategy calls.

New USA Circuit for 2012.
FORMULA ONE returns to the USA in 2012 at the all new Circuit of the Americas, located in Austin, Texas, and players can drive on the circuit ahead of the track’s debut in November. The highly anticipated new 3.427 mile (5.515 km), 20 turn circuit includes dramatic elevation changes of up to 133 feet (40 metres) and takes inspiration from iconic corners at famous FORMULA ONE circuits, including Silverstone’s Becketts and Istanbul Park’s Turn 8. F1 2012 will also feature all of the circuits from the expanded 2012 calendar, including the return of Germany’s Hockenheimring.

Lap Tutorials.
F1 2012 will feature all-new lap walkthroughs from FORMULA ONE test driver and Codemasters technical consultant Anthony Davidson. Davidson will talk the player through a lap of each of the 20 circuits on the 2012 calendar, highlighting braking points, gearing and giving expert technical advice which will help players find extra speed on every lap.

F1 2012 Demo.
For the first time in FORMULA ONE gaming, fans can experience a demo before the full retail release. The F1 2012 demo will allow players to try out two of the game’s new features, as players take part in the first day of the Young Driver Test before taking to the grid to compete in the first race of the Season Challenge. Further details on demo content and release date are forthcoming.

From what I know..... :)
-There will also be the ability to change brake bias.
-Improved AI
-Better graphics for PS3
-Better stability on the rear of the car in high speed corners
-Marbles and grass have far less grip and really slow you down
-The ability to give back a position if you have overtaken illegally
-Kerbs are more punishing
-Better menu making it easier and faster to jump into a race
-You cant change down gears really quickly now as it will result in an engine failure I think..
Im sure there is more..

So it definately should be an improvement from the last game. I just hope that the crash damage is more realistic. And hopefully the AI are better and are able to outbrake you.. it was far too easy to defend in F1 2011.

Parc Ferme is supposed to be in the game this year, however to what extent is still yet to be established..... If i can put a quali setup on, do a hot lap, then return the pit garage and change my setup to something more suitable to the race before quali ends (not putting any laps in with that setup) and then be able to use that race set up in the race, then Parc Ferme will be a sham.

If however, the game recognizes what setup you did your fastest time on and makes you use that setup in the race that will be sweet.

Let me add a little bit more to my post above

- Parc Ferme ( i.e quali setup cannot be changed for the race)
- Going off line really slows you down more and makes you understeer
- Ability to choose fuel amount before race. Three base strategies - Cautious, Standard and Agressive.
- Better tyre management. Spinning up the rears will make them overheat and subsequently wear more. From what I have heard F1 2012 rewards driving at a pace below the limit with flashes of good laps now and again. The tyres also supposedly go through more levels of heat and each corner could be treated on its own.. so for example the front left tyre would be very hot after turn 8 in Turkey while the rear right could be cooler ( I know Turkey is not in F1 2012 but its just an example)
- Realistic lap times. Its closer to reality now and I think codemasters have worked hard on this..
- Better lock-ups... You know, smoke when you lock up but I dont think there are flatspots.
- Better audio from the cars.
- And finally there are wobbly aerials on the front of the car :)

This is all that I have gathered from various Websites and people who have played 2012 at gamescom.

Only concern with the marbles is that it could take away potential off-line overtakes(i.e. round the outside) if it really does slow you down. Conversely, if a driver goes off-line then maybe it gives a better chance to overtake.

I know what you mean. This is an interesting read - http://community.codemasters.com/t5...om-a-play-test-at-Codemasters-last/td-p/25250

Some guy gives his impression of playing a bit of F1 2012.

He says - "Agree that there should be a grip penalty for going off the racing line, but it felt like I was being really heavily punished for doing so when trying to make a pass through a corner (outside of turn 2 at Hungary for example) and just ended up drifting wide with massive under-steer. In fairness this could just be a case of needing to get used to the new game over time and driving accordingly."

So hopefully it isnt That punishing going off line.

you can change the front wing value from qualy to race . thats the only thing you can change IRL if i remember right , yes it is

@Jamie Francklin Yeah mate.. Kimi in China is another example. He lost several places by running wide onto marbles if I'm not mistaken.

The Autobraking sucks but perhaps they put it there so that the person playing at gamescom could not try out the crash damage by crashing into a wall.. I highly doubt that it will be in the real game unless codemasters have gone mad :)
