On day 4 of the Dakar Rally it was again the successful duo Al-Attiyah/Baumel who took the win. In their MINI they managed to stay ahead of Nani Roma (also MINI) and Toyota driver De Villiers.

Al-Attiyah has widened the overall gap to De Villiers by more than 10 minutes with suprising drivers Alrajhi and Ten Brinke following on 20 and 56 minutes respectively.

In the motorbike category the top contestants drove a steady stage. In Copiapo it was it was Barreda finishing first, with veteran Coma in second position and third position for Quintanilla.

In the overall ranking we see the same faces up front with Joan Barreda leading Marc Coma with more than 10 minutes followed by Goncalves in 3rd.

The truck category saw a disappointing ex-winner finishing way behind as Gerard de Rooy had an extremely unlucky day with rear axle problems and can put his aspirations for a new title aside for this year.

The Russians took control over the rest of the trucks by taking all podium positions during stage four with Nikolaev, Karginov, and Mardeev dominating in their mighty Kamaz.
