Converter from GPL (Grand Prix Legends) to rFactor?

Hello!

I want to know if there is anyone that would like to convert 3-6 tracks (pretty small ones) from Grand Prix Legends (Notice GPL not GTL) to rFactor. I want it so badly because the tracks are local and I know pretty much every bump and where the road go. So, I want a converter so badly.

PM me or reply to this topic if you want to do that for me. :)

(Link will be sent in a pm)

Anyway, if someone wants, please pm me. I just want to know. :)

Here is the links:

Lillehammer 1934 (A fantasy circuit on real roads round a lake called "Mjøsa".) http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=3193 (I don't need it, but it would be great to have.)

Gardemoen 1950 (A air strip race 7,2 km long on Norway's biggest airport.) http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=766 (Would be great to have.)

Rally Stavanger SS1 (A rally stage I have watched in real life 6 times. :D) http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=3284 (Mandatory)

Randaberg (Roads that I've been sitting in a car on.= http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=3922 (Me wants :))

Tronåsen (A road over a hill. Very steep roads and many hairpins. More like Monte Carlo Rally really.) http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=6059 (Mandatory)

I hope you understand. :)

Personally, I'm not surprised you can't understand that tutorial.
It was written way back in 2006 and therefore probably pretty incompatible with today's versions of the software tools mentioned, and, it was written not for a general public (too much 'coder to coder' language, inconsistensies, incomplete descriptions, and lack of clarifications).

I understand understand. But suddenly I'm missing a file, and suddenly that is important, and suddenly there it was.. I know it's like that for everyone. But, lol. I just can't do it.. Not to great in reading 9999999 pages of texts.. And specially advanced English. LOL.

Normally you'd do that via 3DSimed. But it can be a lot of work converting it into something decent, as opposed to something driveable-but-ughly.

Correct, it's not so easy to do conversion from GPL to rFactor but it's possible and it take some time that we so so busy people do not have nowdays. Normally you should change all graphics and you must create a fully working AI file, also the basic object conversion work needs lots of knowhow so don't wait too long. I think it's not so easy to find (m)any modder's to do this, I can do but I won't. I have experience of few conversions and I know how much work and time it needs. Conversion from rFactor to GTR Evolution example is so different story as it takes only 2 hours :)

And please remember to ask sharing permissions from track creator if you find somebody to do this job. Good luck!

Hint: ask derDumeklemmer from NoGrip (nogripracing.com) he might help you, cheers!

In a pinch, you can at least import the basic road into BTB (I think it was via a 3DSimed export as a .dxf file or somesuch, a generic file format in any case) and then work from that. This will give you only the basic ribbon of asphalt, and you'd have to build the scenery around it, but it's better than nada I guess...

3DSimed comes with TrkMgr and with that tool you can convert the whole track with terrain and objects but for that work you need to know how to create GPL tracks to understand all information. GPL track creation guide is the first step...cheers!
