Studio 397 have revealed the first images from the controversial upcoming pay DLC for rFactor 2.. the McLaren 650s GT3.

Although looking beautiful in game, and built with considerable cooperation from the McLaren team who design and run the cars in GT3 championships throughout the world, the upcoming 650s GT3 has attracted plenty of attention within the rFactor 2 community as the very first paid DLC for the venerable racing simulation.

Build in-house by Studio 397, the new car will form part of the McLaren endorsed 'World's Fastest Gamer' competition and is set to be made available to the gaming public for an additional fee, the first time either rFactor game has been in receipt of paid DLC content since the series began in 2005.

Priced at a reasonable 4.99 eu and expected to form the beginning of a wider GT3 pack, the McLaren 650s looks to be quite possibly the most accurate rendition of a racing car brought to rFactor 2 as first party content.

Unfortunately no release date has been revealed by the studio at present, however with the WFG competition and the apparent advanced state of the car, one can expect to be able to access the new content in the not too distant future.

rFactor 2 can be purchased from the Steam platform right now and is available exclusively for PC.

Check out the rFactor 2 sub forum here at RaceDepartment for all the latest news and discussion with regards to the simulation. You can take part in lively debates with fellow rFactor 2 fans and take part in some great Club and League racing events..! Head over to the forum now and share the love this simulation so very much deserves...

Will you be purchasing the McLaren on release? Happy to see official DLC content for the sim? Looking forward to more GT3 spec cars (officially) released for rF2? Let us know in the comments section below!

Ssy wut?? Studio whatever lost their mind? Im NOT impressed by their work so far. DX11 was a pure waste of time. The radical....could have been a mod. I will NOT buy any dlc created by those arrogant dutch %@#&$!. Look at Reiza and learn...rookies.

U mean reiza which made a kickstarter with vr promise and next gen titel reiza 17 call end of 2016... really u learn from them ? And how can u complain about dx11 if its never out its in beta u know what beta means ?...

Now 5 euro are more than assetto corsa and less than iracing. So the key will be how good are thes pay cars in graphic, sound etc. and how will the pay content integrate in in good mutliplayer system. If they make it good its worth 5 euro per car for sure compare to other sims like raceroom, iracing etc.

You mention the word "reasonable" and for me this is the problem, I do not think 4.99eu is a resonable price for ONE car.

Lets compare it to the DLC's from AC I think that is a fair and good comparison to make.

and notice one of the cars in this pack for £5.59 ...yes the 650 GT3, but rfactor 2 want to charge 4.99 for one sole car ...to much, way to much.

I have no problem as mentioned in another post with rfactor2 starting to charge for additional content but at that price they will drive people away.

I don´t need to know the car, i know the numbers. 560 kg dry-weight with that center of gravity don´t understeer like a Porsche Cayenne in AC and seem´s i´m not the only one finding this car strange. And Billy isn´t a nitpicker.

funny thing is when in rfactor 2 something is rong even inside simracing talks about it but on iracing which i call understeer racing where every car is rong at some points with too much understeer nobody in hell talks about it. I mean drive the iracing skip barber and it is a joke. and this comes from a iracer because its my main sim.

Today I learned simracers are alcoholics who love very expensive beer and fatty snacks on a daily basis

This feels a bit like R3E's attempt to go e-sports. R3E has fallen flat because the sim wasn't complete (lack of triple screens, mediocre VR implementation, flag system woes, net code)....basically a host of issues that make it less than ready for prime time.

I feel the same about RF2. The handling model is good, but the game itself is very unpolished. The UI is brutal, color pallet is not appealing to me even after DX11, car list is a bit rough, sounds are rough....hard to charge premium dollars in a sim that is not fully polished.

The Radical SR03 is driving like horse-:poop: and nowhere near the real car, so first they should fix this car and maybe i buy this boring GT3-car after. Today i don´t think anyone in this Studio is capable of creating cars with accurate physics so far. Just try out the MCR 2000 in AMS for comparison, which is similar in shape and weight with a bit less bhp. Or just watch this video and try out the same:
Rfactor 2 quality for you:D:D:D. A large majority of the content drives like garbage (from stock content to mods), especially the pay mods.

Which is a shame because it has a ton of good tracks.

sorry guys, but your points about missing vs proper data from manufacturesrs makes me laugh

yes maybe for the modern cars, and if company doing the sim is high profile, but definitely not always, and pretty much never with historical/older cars content

the only big advantage that comes with official DLC is that for more modern cars, you would often get CAD model of the car, so some of the suspension stuff you can measure from it, but not all of course ( like dampers), and again no CAD for older cars

so yeah, while sometimes official content has more data it's not all the data and definitely not always

big advantage on modder is that they can work on the car forr unlimited time , to get everything right, where's developers have bills to pay and after certain time they have to release it

or see you guys saying that Automobilista cars are not realistic ? I doubt they got much data from manufacturers, even less so for their unlicensed versions of the real cars

:D

Kunos are selling those packs to a much bigger userbase on the PC in addition to their PS4 and Xbox userbases... if you get 9x the downloads you can afford to sell it at 1/9 the price.

cool!! for a technical démo....:D

If RF2 is going in a direction of a true simulator then 5 bucks is fair, I still think we are a few years out from simulators opening the gap between sims and games. The jury is still out but I personally like the direction.
