Does this just mean I need to change my texturing method completely?

description: I made a dashed line with alpha, the lines look perfect when theres no shadows on it, but when there is, the part of the picture that's covered with black alpha turns gray and visible.

is the line set to chroma? For Chroma i think it will shade the entire polygon(s), but with the line set to alpha i think it will only shade the alpha masked part of the polygon(s)

    SOLVED!

Actually I just turned "receive shadows" OFF! And the line now IS receiving shadows (!?!?!?) , and alpha is nicely invisible... It's weird, but it works.
