Cars and tracks for new versions of Racer?

  1. Are there cars and tracks for new versions of Racer (0.8.10 and later)?
     
  2. A lot of the old tracks/cars work with ver 0.0810 and later, they just have a lot of Qlog errors and shader problems.

    A source is tracciontesaras, use google to find.

  3. Some cars and tracks have problems with newer versions of Racer. For example, the 1969 Plymouth Fury III car has flashing window moldings and some buildings in Small City 2009 have flashing textures.

    That's a current Racer bug, I get it too, I didn't think anyone else did? lol

    What graphics card do you have?

  7. Guess I should update the shaders and textures. I'll make a patch as soon as I have some spare time.

    EDIT: Someone advised me to wait until 09-final.. and that is good advise.. otherwise I will be forced to do another update.. so.. I'll wait..
     
  8. after loading 0.812 racer version I again started testing all the ttracks that run with a good frame rate (smooth drivebility) have mostly all the textures what they aught to be (has a sky and little or no tree shading errors) and drives at a proper/correct speed, (some tracks I've found have incorrect traction making the car impossible to drive, like it's sitting in the mud, yet shows it's still standing on the road seal) NAhyhow here are the tracks I've gone though so far and the last few have been tested on the newer 0.813 ...
    tracks with five ##### are in really good form although some include small error ( fences that have shadow errors ) most have still got Qlog error and with then new 0.813 they are running at 25fps at least
    These tracks are good enough to consider running on 0.812 or 0.813
    the other tracks with five 00000 are not really running properly for various reasons and some have a persentage between those to setting ##### all good and 00000 not really working.

    as you can see I've not done anything to these tracks to repair them just markd them to show a basic record to save some time.

    I've place all the tracks than I'm testing here if no marks at all are after the tracks then it's not been tested yet.
    and lastly all the tracks have been tested (one lap) with BMW M1 and the track list is from the folder names they unzip to when installed into racer.

  10. Great job mdbobbo !

    At least, we know which needs some refining....
    As a new member (2 weeks old), I was surprised how bad generally speaking the tracks were made. Some have shaders, cam, physics, optimization issues which will surely last before really fixing/upgrading the best ones (best structures) for future Racer versions.

    From approx. 30 tracks downloaded, only 3-5 tracks were "by default" in good quality....

    Talking about those, had new ideas, to blend easily the road mesh with the terrain mesh, right ; cause this what's really makes a track, I'll try to output some bitmap (raw file formats => HM: heightmaps) from CE2, (since I've been working more deeply with this n°1 worldwide known engine) which will include a road build on top of my HM, perfectly aligned to the terrain.

    Hope some of you, understands what I'm talking about....:) Could ease the creation process !
     
  11. Works perfectly !

    Using displace modifier (Max) or displacement map (Maya) with grayscale textures generated from CE2.
    Look the road, how it's nicely blended into the terrain.

    I first generate terrain, then create the road spline, finally align it to the terrain & export the whole (terrain + road) as a grayscale texture (8/16 bit).
