Better visibility for all (virtual) motorsport YouTubers

We have made a couple of important changes to our RaceTube section here at RaceDepartment that hopefully marks the start of a better visibility for all virtual motorsport YouTubers who are all helping to grow our beautiful sim racing and motorsport hobby.

Something that has been bothering a growing group of people is that a lot of sim racing news outlets on the web seem to have a strict old boys network they are pulling videos from, that are exclusively featured to a large audience leaving other quality content creators sidelined.

On the web there are hundreds of channels that are absolutely worth to take a look at it and therefore it's hard to understand why the community is always served with videos from the same people week in week out. We have a huge pie on our hands, why not slice it into a few more pieces?

That said what has been changed to make things better?
  1. All latest submitted videos by the community you'll now find featured in the sidebar of our frontpage www.racedepartment.com
  2. Currently the following games have a dedicated video section coded into their main forums where you can see the latest 10 submitted video entries of your favorite game. Let us know in the comments below if you need more sections added.
Besides the largest video network we also allow videos from Dailymotion, Facebook, Vimeo, Metacafe and others and of course screenshots are more than welcome too.

Hopefully the new influx of content creators will enjoy the extra visibility their videos will now be getting on the largest sim racing website.

Stay tuned for a few more changes soon as creating video content will become an official competition here on RaceDepartment where some nice prizes are to be won!

If you'd like to submit your awesome video content yourself click the RaceTube link in the navigation bar or go here directly and submit and share your favorite videos today with the rest of the community.

I'll be adding that one soon. Thanks @James Nance

Thank you. I think with an iRacing section, a lot of people will get exposed to the sim and play it more. I know there are probably a lot of iRacers on RD, but I think having a section dedicated to iRacing videos (especially as an iRacing content creator like myself) will really help get people who want to watch iRacing (or those who are unsure with the sim with the barriers to entry it has in terms of costs) to watch different series outside of the content the bigger YouTubers put out. :)

can we have a commentated / non commentated video and commentary language tags.
so we don't have to sift through hundreds of videos of people just playing the games with nothing to add.

All of mine are action clips, sometimes highlights of a full race with detailed annotations. I never speak a word and doubt I ever will, I don't make videos to point out my opinion to the public so you can skip all of mine.

Added this to the form where you add the description. You can also edit you existing videos to add the information. (the order on the form is a little screwed up, I'll deal with that in due course). There's a checkbox for is the video contains commentary/voiceover, and an edit box for the commentary language.

When either of the values are set they will display below the video description.

This is a quick and dirty addition, I'll look into nicer ways to do it when I have a little more time.

Can we also have category called "All" which lists all videos?

Also how are the categories sorted? They are kinda random atm. Maybe put them in alphabetical order (or other other)? Or add that choise to the drop down menu there.

As for sub categories (tags?) I think these might be useful:
- mod
- commentary
- trailer
- review
- onboard (guy just doing a hotlap or race online or against ai)
- broadcast
- tutorial

anyone who is searching for a hentai manga *ahem* mod knows that tags are incredibly useful they would add a lot to racetube.
