Banned from AC forums, anyone have experienced this?

< Mod Edit: Please be advised that it is in breach of RD ToS to use insulting or derogatory terms. Post cleaned.>

Hello all, i'm banned from AC forum for more than one month now. As an active member since the beggining and with more than 1000 messages i feel shocked with that kind of attitude from them. <snip>

Has this happened to anyone? I agree maybe that they should permanently ban you if you were kind of disrespectful or insult anyone, which was not the case. I got banned until now just because people were asking on forum for MP improvements (more than acceptable) and all i've done was quote a message <snip> and used a funny ironic image related to what he was saying THAT WAS CLEARLY A LIE!! From that moment on, as it was admitted by Lord Kunos himself, he went on a ban strike and several people were banned... until now.

Well, maybe i would accept a week suspension because now i know AC forums staff can't accept critics anymore (they're rich now) and became a dictatorial regime that can only be populated by fanboys or "yes" sheeps...

The image was this...

There is a major difference to buying a product that doesn't work, waiting for it to be fixed for nearly a year and then saying that you think the reason is because the people that produce that product are incompetent to going up to a stranger and telling them that they are ugly.

Not really, they're both things that are totally fine to think in your head but are inappropriate and offensive to say to someone's face. You basically walked into their place of business, told them they're all incompetent, and now you're surprised that they escorted you out of the building.

So, by your theory, going up to a woman who was ugly and telling her that she's ugly should not result in her smacking the piss out of you because you're only accurately describing what she is. Go try that, see how it works out for ya.

Badest example ever mate. So, by your theory, BobTheDog is right with his
statement about the basic incompetence of Kunos :O_o:

They way how you express your critism makes the difference ;)

The general rule is no personal attack, insult or flaming... In nearly all cases have no constructive criticism.

Obviously instead of finding the issue around it & trying to fix something you don't know, is a complete waste of time which end up as a spam.

In all forums to get rid of spams, you ban the root problem which is the account of the user.

@BobTheDog, I think your inability to understand what some are explaining to do are going to cause you problems in the future. You can give Kunos constructive criticism without attacking them personally. It's not a "fact" that Kunos is incompetent, it's your opinion. There can be a number of reasons why your problems haven't been addressed.
I understand your frustration, and it sounds like you have legitimate issues (I don't have AC on console), but your comment was "Was it worth a ban?" - I'm not surprised you were banned. My $.02

Problems in the future :) I'm over 50 years old I guess I will have to deal with those problems when they come!

I have never had a warning on a forum never mind a ban, maybe a warning would have been a better idea as the only thing I used AC for was the weekly challenge on the forum (because it can't save any progress) and now I can't even do that.

Oh well it looks like I am on my own here and I should have worded things differently. I have emailed the forum about why I was banned, no reply yet. I will wait and see if I get one.

I was wondering where all the complainers had gone on the forum, I had previously guessed it was because they stopped playing the game because of its problems, I guess I now know it is because they just banned them all.

Thanks for all the advise guys.

There are ways and ways of complaining. Is your purpose to give feedback (information of the problems/ of what's good) or is your purpose to get mad at Kunos by talking about them on a personal level?
They never banned anyone that said "saves don't work on xbox one".

The thing about console games and games on Steam. If on Steam, they could have patched it the same or next day. On console they need to wait quite some time until they can again send an update.

Not saving setups or not saving championship seems to be a problem on xbox one version upon restart of the console. But saving mid-game or saving progress between sessions is simply not implemented in the game (Steam version as well).

Well I'm mad at them I guess, I understand that versions take longer on XBox than PC but I have not been able to save progress since the game came out nearly a year ago. That to me seems like far too long for users to still be getting this issue. There have been various re-installs to try get to work, but I get so far in the main game and then it won't save my progress anymore.

The final straw was the fact that it cannot save the new championships released in the last version, you take ages setting it all up. Race the first race, exit out to the main screen to make sure everything is ok and turn the XBox off. Next time you turn it on the championship is gone, so not very useful unless you keep your XBox on all the time. It took them months and months to get settings saving properly but nothing else saves.

In a way the ban is is a bit of a relief, I can stop getting wound up by it now and I guess winding them up!

I have deleted AC from the XBox, pCars II is out soon I'll wait for that.

It's a shame as the driving is bar far the best you can get on the XBox, but nothing else works.

I'm pretty sure that the car handling and ffb in Cars II won't be as good as AC but I am also pretty sure it will save data (including lap-times which will be nice) and allow me to calibrate my wheel and pedals and set the buttons up how I want. I could be wrong of course ;)

@BobTheDog If you had a PC you would have a completely different opinion on the matter which PCARS is full of bugs.
Everyone in this thread that has complained about being banned while claiming they did nothing wrong is always a good laugh. :)
Actually I got banned permanently from GTPlanet because I insulted a mod "being stupid" for giving me warning for loving my XBOX 360 back in 2006 while I had ton of personal insult toward me from elitism PS3 fanboys while the posters got no warning at all for personal insult.

In my case it was constructive, but elitism sometime win. I suppose what happened is a clueless mod gave me a warning & another mod gave me the ban hammer, because he didn't saw the warning I got & complained publicly.

I'm not the kind to have an allegiance to a certain brand when too often I see the next random product being completely off the mark.

At least unlike the PS3, the PS4 is actually a good system.

yup i got banned just over a month ago too after the update. By Stefano for criticising aspects of the game. He just learnt how to ban people and starts acting like a kid with a new toy banning people left right and center. Not good! Would be nice to know how long a ban/"vacation" is in place for as ac forums is the only place really for proper support.
What proper support?? For my problems I got only repeated stereotype answers. Just a waste of time to my opinion.

says you
Reality tho, tells quite a different story and shows thousands of bugs reported and handled successfully in the support forums.
But ya.. internet forums sadly can't solve every kind of problem  and ours is no exception.

OK! I agree - not ALL problems may be solved at a forum!
My problems at least were not solved:
  • It was about the distance of the HUD-plane to the drivers eyes using the RIFT - a problem that I still have (sometimes everything´s OK - sometimes the HUD-plane is far behind my eyes / maybe a problem only for me)
  • Further I was searching informations about modding car physics - that was just a sad experience. So I gave up.
Quick reaction though :whistling::whistling:

well one was obviously a problem with your default rift configuration moving your position too forward. Nothing to do with AC... but that didn't stop you from being rude with people trying to help you to fix it, which, from what I read on the thread, you did, so your problem WAS solved.

About the second one, I could not find any thread in which you asked questions and car modding is not strictly speaking part of AC support job and yet, the dedicated forum section is filled with info and with so many mods available for AC I doubt there is really a problem there for those with the necessary talent and will power to make things happen... this website download section shows over 6 thousands for AC, that's 6 times more than anything else on the website, so ya, the info must be there somehow mustn't it?

have a nice day

Ah ja: :(
  • The problem was not SOLVED - it was gone somehow - and it came back again. I didn´t change anything, still have no idea what causes the problem.
  • Regarding modding support: There was a great #1 tutorial video from Aristoteles! But I did not find anything further, i.e. clarifying the various .ini-files etc.
So I stuck to the forum. A typical discussion on the forum that I found (I did not ask but searched the forum for information):
#############
Swapping out or adding new tyres to a car:
"Noob": So I need some help with how to add a tyre to a car like an ultrasoft slick for a modded f1 car or something like that.

"Alien": You ask the creator kindly or you make a mod yourself.

"Noob": I used assetto car tuner 1.54 to mod the tatuus fa01 lol, so I cant really ask someone for that

"Alien": There's your problem, you're editing official content.
#############
That seems to be SOME clear information for Mr."Noob" though

Well, that "Alien" is right, the big disclaimer on the forum reads "tl;dr Don't modify Kunos made cars!" (and if you do regardless, don't talk about it here), and you did exactly that in those two posts.

Then there's the issue that us modders don't like it when people run around modifying mods we spend ages on.

If you really want to learn it, search for the sdk folder in the main assettocorsa folder (which is pointed at in that "old" official modding video), read through the files, and come back with better questions (or just search for specific words and filenames. Every ini and fbx file has been discussed to death)

And then come here (http://www.racedepartment.com/forums/assetto-corsa-modding-discussions.414/) to talk abou what your planning to do

That might be true on the PC version. The console version is quite the reverse, issues such as the current problems with the custom championships not saving in v1.14 are ignored without any response. Yes we use your reporting through the publisher 505 games (or should that be the owner now as the subsidiary of Digital Bros) and that gets nonsense responses too (resetting a router does not solve the custom championships not saving oddly enough - there is one free test for you).

Save games are absolute basics in 2017. Your companies insistence on silence as a communication policy between console version updates, while demonstrating your quick reaction to PC game problems just exacerbates the poor communication.

Your console team need to man up, face the issues and fix them. I used to point out the issues on your forum to give you a chance to fix them without wider web exposure. After a year I just think you are silencing critics with real and repeatable concerns in order to abandon the console version of the game. If you can't replicate the issues on your dev kits buy a consumer Xbox and see what happens.

One more DLC to sell for £6 and a whole range of basic bugs will be left in the game.
