Banned from AC forums, anyone have experienced this?

< Mod Edit: Please be advised that it is in breach of RD ToS to use insulting or derogatory terms. Post cleaned.>

Hello all, i'm banned from AC forum for more than one month now. As an active member since the beggining and with more than 1000 messages i feel shocked with that kind of attitude from them. <snip>

Has this happened to anyone? I agree maybe that they should permanently ban you if you were kind of disrespectful or insult anyone, which was not the case. I got banned until now just because people were asking on forum for MP improvements (more than acceptable) and all i've done was quote a message <snip> and used a funny ironic image related to what he was saying THAT WAS CLEARLY A LIE!! From that moment on, as it was admitted by Lord Kunos himself, he went on a ban strike and several people were banned... until now.

Well, maybe i would accept a week suspension because now i know AC forums staff can't accept critics anymore (they're rich now) and became a dictatorial regime that can only be populated by fanboys or "yes" sheeps...

The image was this...

I got banned for something (who knows what it is) called a Steam Check??
Permanent banned!

You needed to link your steam account to your AC forum account to confirm you have actually purchased the game, if you didn't then you would have seen a "Please associate with steam" message under your username for a while before your grace period was up

From AC forums

"HOW TO ASSOCIATE YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT

the process is very simple. Basically it's a 3-steps process.

Your forum user has its own password in order to log on this forum. Remember it.

Go on the external accounts page and click "Associate with Steam". You will be automatically redirect to the official Steam website. Here you need to log in with your Steam credentials (that you use with Steam client too). Done that, you will be automatically redirect on our forum again. Last step: it will ask for your FORUM PASSWORD. Put it into the text field and the process is done."

I did all of what you said, but it still doesn't work. And I was under the impression that a Console user did not need to associate their account with Steam? Steam is the lamest org around, and AC Forum is right behind them.

My status right now is: I can view any posts, but I can not reply to any, or participate in any of the TT that are on-going. So, I really am screwed on that now. I will say that 505 support is really good, and they even tried to help with my issue, but they couldn't.

Ah it means "Of course", just looked it up.

So looking at the Assetto Corsa forum rules:

Please remember, we will not tolerate any form of behavior that is considered upsetting, offensive or inappropriate. It's massively unfair on other community members who are here to engage with other players in a friendly manner, as well as the team who are hard at work behind the scenes, on Assetto Corsa. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and the team are totally open to constructive criticism, but under no circumstances will we tolerate behavior that's upsetting towards others.

Should anyone in the community behaviour in an inappropriate manner, will have to take appropriate action.

So you are saying what I said was not "an entitled opinion to a team open to constructive criticism" but rather "Upsetting towards others"?

To call someone "basic incompetence" is far away from any constructive criticism.
Its just an insult.
Do you expect any thankfulness if you do this in real life?

When you tell someone they're incompetent it is generally considered offensive and possibly upsetting. How would you feel if someone walked into your job and started carrying on about how incompetent you are? You'd probably ask for them to be escorted out of the building.

Well If I was incompetent I'm not sure that I should get upset about someone calling me incompetent as I would hopefully already know that. You shouldn't get upset about words that accurately describe what you are.

I guess maybe it depends on our definition of incompetence, there must be some difference in our understanding. If I had sold you some software that still after nearly a year of updates couldn't save data to disk how would you think about my level of competence?

As it seems so far we are 2:1 here maybe my understanding about products that are fit for purpose is maybe different to yours, I guess you both use the XBox version rather than the PC version?

So, by your theory, going up to a woman who was ugly and telling her that she's ugly should not result in her smacking the piss out of you because you're only accurately describing what she is. Go try that, see how it works out for ya.

I'm not really sure what that has to do with anything! How you would link what I said to that is a bit worrying.

Does your XBox save data?

It's called an analogy. What you did was basically the same thing as walking up to an ugly woman and feeling it necessary to tell her she's fat just because it accurately describes her. Walking into Kunos headquarters and telling them they're incompetent is offensive no matter how accurately it describes your opinion of them.

There is a major difference to buying a product that doesn't work, waiting for it to be fixed for nearly a year and then saying that you think the reason is because the people that produce that product are incompetent to going up to a stranger and telling them that they are ugly.
