Good racing tonight guys. Shame just five on the grid but the challenge was always the car and track in this one really, any close racing was likely going to end in tears lol Although the brief battles with Neale and Karl were fun while they lasted.

I lucked out tonight really, good qualifying to nick second place from Karl but no answer for Neale's 1:49 and then kept a clean and solid race with minimal errors and didn't have to push too hard, just bringing the red chariot home to the flag in one piece.

More tomorrow.. Going to sit in a darkened room to recover lol.

Couldn't have my mic on much as I had the balance set wrong and couldn't risk fiddling with it to correct it otherwise I would have ended up in the kitty litter lol

Super fun race. Too bad the penalty system is a little off.

15:30 - Race start.
25:45-26:44 - fun bit with Peter and first bogus penalty.
26:55 - legitimate penalty.
34:35 - bogus penalty #2.
45:30 - bogus penalty #3 and #4

I had another penalty or two in the last few laps but the video stopped broadcasting.

Nice one Karl, those penalties can be tough.. second one I think is due to just part of your left hand tyres touching the sand and that triggered it even though most of the tyre was on the grey stuff. I noted that in our practice.

Enjoyed that little duel.. thought you were past me on the run down to Aque Minerale but I had the better line on the outside. The penalties that come when you have had an incident are the frustrating ones as you've already lost a load of time and then it's double whammy!! That's how my one came when I just got a little bit out of shape under breaking for the downhill right-hand part of Aque Minerale and rather than force the issue and try to make the turn I allowed the car to run off and then gathered it back up. But I lost only 5 seconds as I allowed the natural inertia of the car to move back onto the track before getting back on the throttle again.

Great fun though.. this car would be a blast around Laguna Seca :inlove:

Yeah, I didn't want to run side by side through Aque Minreale so i lifted.... as you can see it didn't turn out well. But i'm just glad i didn't take you out as well, which might have happened if we were side by side.

I had such a good time last night in that beaut of a car… so much challenge I think it has to be the toughest one we have raced. Great way to bring the series to a close, we started off with the very tricky Lotus 25 at Classic Monza so it was quite fitting to end it with the tricky Ferrari 312/67 at Classic Imola :inlove:

Quali: Enjoyed the little second place battle with Karl during qualifying. Neither of us had an answer to Neale’s 1:49.565 for pole and Karl had the edge for most of quali leading me by 9/tenths after our first laps until I squeaked past by a couple of hundredths before pitting only for him to take the place by another 9/tenths shortly after lol. I had enough time for a couple more laps so put in enough fuel for that and set out. Managed to find enough time to take the place back with about 3 minutes remaining and then abandoned the next lap and transported myself back to the pits to make sure I had enough time to change my fuel for the race. I was fully expecting Karl to come back and snatch the place back but the session ended with my time good enough by about 4/tenths with a 1:51.366 to Karls 1:51.778. Peter had a very respectable 1:54.623 with Mike only managing to get a couple of laps in with a 2:00.242.

Race: Got off to a decent start and was able to get ahead of Neale off the line but then was in his sights very quickly. Held him off for about half a lap but then he got major traction out of Acque Minerale and blew past me before the chicane at Variante Alta. I was happy enough to let him go on his merry way as having my mirrors full of him on my tail would have been a distraction lol. Karl and Pete were just a second or so back and having their own battle until Pete lost ground following a slip I think and then it was me and Karl. He closed on me after I had a bad exit out of the Tosa hairpin and then got alongside on the run down to Acque Minerale but with the less favourable line he backed off and that resulted in a spin and penalty for going off track :/ Neale had to pit around lap 5 and that left me clear in front and further problems for Karl left him trailing further as the next dozen laps unfolded.

I had no idea of gaps to Karl or Neale so was racing blind for the rest of the race and decided that as there was no tyre degradation that I would make my compulsory stop quite late. I fully expected Neale to be past me when I stopped as he had put in some 1:50 laps while I was in the 52-54 range. I had a bad spell at one point which confused me until I realised that I was slipping up to 5th gear before Piratella whereas I had been much faster by staying in 4th gear so once I went back to that my times improved again. My one mistake came and went without too much pain, I got slightly out of shape under braking for Acque Minerale but rather than force the issue and try to make the corner which always results in more problems and a spin I let the car drift off track and then allowed it to come back on track under it’s own force and all I got was a four second penalty and was soon back on my way. The following lap was also poor though and I lost another three seconds before getting back on schedule. When I exited the pits after my stop on lap 20 I was surprised to see no cars anywhere on my radar still. I thought maybe Neale and Karl had both got past already so was really happy to find them still behind me by some way ;).

It was just a case of gently bringing the car home from that point and my last lap was a real carful affair taking no chances whatsoever lol.

I really wish they would fix the lack of gap info in the races and give us a proper race results screen at the end so we can see the overall race time and gaps to drivers. I think I had about a 17 second lead or thereabouts in the end.

Great fun and I would love to take this car around somewhere else in the future.

Here’s my quali and race:-

Another great evening thanks guys, this bloody Game pit setup lark is such a pain if you slip up and don’t pay attention.it was a race for me just to catch up but failed miserably as all I did was make mistakes everywhere but it’s not all about winning for me it’s about having a great evening thanks again

Hi everyone, is this still active? I have just got into sim racing and got my rig sorted. Played through 48percent of career mode and think it’s time to head into online racing. I want to race clean and sim as possible. I will probably come last but if I learn some tips in the meantime chances are I will get faster. I am 45 and would like a more mature racing environment rather than 14 year old shouting it’s not fair in my ear!! Play on Xbox one with thrust master tx and home made wood rig. Please advise..

Hi Chris good to see you here. I'm still looking to run something here but it's taking a bit of a hiatus following the start of our F1 season which can be found here if you are interested in that as well

http://www.racedepartment.com/forums/xb1-f1-2017-championship.382/

I am hoping we'll get something off the ground here though in the next few weeks with races being on the off F1 weekends.
It will probably be something along the lines of what I've outlined here:-

http://www.racedepartment.com/threa...the-series-going-forward.147337/#post-2701011

I'll post something up in the next week to firm the details up

Field usage 200%
Damage rate 100%
2 wheels off the track
120% qually time
Track - fast

Start: 14:00
Light clouds
20 degrees
Tires warmed

20 min - qually
8 laps - sprint race
22 laps - main race with pitstop (rolled start reversed grid)

Sunday 23 september 2018
19:00 UK time, 20:00 CET

Lobby will be open tommorow at least 15 min ealier. Please join and enjoy the racing.
It could be continued season if i catch some attention. If no one interested this week, we can postpone it to another sunday.

I am going to create practice lobby in few minutes, free to join.

Probably too early for me Marcin. Also don't forget that if this is to be a regular event our F1 schedule will clash so anyone interested from there will not be able to race most Sundays. There's a heavy schedule over the next coupe of months with limited Sundays free.

The game doesn't support follow on races with reversed grids does it? So I assume this second race would involve a manual formation lap to get people into the correct positions?

No pressure to do that, i ain't do it in your racing weekends for sure i got some idea and just wanted to try.

Yes it will be manual the guy who wast last in sprint race, start first as a safety car the rest keeps the speed and mind tires temps. After a line we start racing 21 laps. Everybody who crashed during the main race can join back.

Feel free to comment and share your toughts.
