Kunos Licensing Manager Marco Massarutto has revealed a new image of the current work in progress 2017 Porsche 911 RSR due to make its debut towards the end of the current month.

When it was announced that the new for 2017 911 RSR would not make it in time to be included in the third Porsche DLC installment for Assetto Corsa, many fans were left disappointed by the omission of arguably the most anticipated car of the three DLC packages. To their credit Kunos acknowledged this disappointment at the time of the announcement and promised Volume Three DLC owners that the car would arrive as a free addition to the pack in January 2017, whilst still replacing the machine from the initial launch with a very nice version of the 911 Turbo S to ensure the full quota of Porsche cars will be met across the three DLC's.

Now we have reached January, Kunos Licensing Manager Marco Massarutto has seen fit to release a 3D render image of the still WIP 911 RSR, showing off the usual Kunos attention to detail in sculpting the fine lines of this new addition to the Assetto Corsa car family.

The 911 RSR itself will make its track debut at the end of this month during the 2017 running of the Rolex Daytona 24 hour event, due to be held on the 28th and 29th January at the famous American venue.

Kunos Simulazioni have released Assetto Corsa for Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game features a number of road and race vehicles with many laserscanned circuits. Additional track and car content can be purchased by way of downloadable content.

One of the best ways to experience Assetto Corsa is to race against your fellow players online. You can do that here at RaceDepartment in our League and Club Racing section of the Assetto Corsa sub forum. Yes... but the old 911 GT1 from the late 90s was a GT1 class car... this new one is a GT2/GTE class car cause the GT1 class doesnt exist anymore...
The old 911 GT1 can compete against the McLaren F1 GTR (same class of car) while this new car should compete against the GT2 class cars (Corvette C7R, Ferrari 458 GT2, BMW M3 GT2 and according to AC BoP the Glickenaus P4/5)...

And it is good that we have another GT2 car with this Porsche cause the GT3 line up is crowded while the GT2 was just 3 cars (I hope for more GT2/GTE in the future like more GT4 too, like the brand new BMW M4 GT4 that we already have the road version in AC)...

you need to get that GT1 and GT2 thing out of your head, the Porsche GT1 and F1 GTR are from different years, same goes with the Corvette and the Ferrari/BMW, they're not meant to compete, since newer generations come up.

the F1 GTR won the Lemans 24 1 year prior the 911 GT1 entered in the races...
f1 GTR won lemans in 1995 and in 1996 was after the new 911 GT1 and in 1997 the F1 GTR long tail was 2nd and 3rd at 24h le mans...
Yes the more perfect match would be the first version of 911 gt! (96 and 97) or the F1 GTR long tail against the 911 GT1 we have in AC but this is the best match we have now in the GT1 class...

And about the 458 and M3... yes the perfect match is the C6R (we have the feee mod by URD for that) but the C7R is good match too...

Dont be to meticolous... AC is a game that dont simulate a particular class refering to a particular year (like GTR) but gives you the same some cars that can be compliant to each other...

The only class in AC that has the right match between cars is the GT3...

there is no match, just 2 different era's of GT1, only 1 year apart.

I wouldn't mind if Porsche joined Super GT in GT500 class. :D But that with the engine wouldn't work out.

GT500 is a different beast... I dont think this car would meet the requirements for that class...

They are similar in the sense that they are both prototypes disguised as GTs with barely a resemblance to the road car it inherits the name.

Performance wise i'd say it's gonna be a couple of seconds between them IMO, RSR ahead.
